Have you tested this construction before actually publishing your thoughts here? No ehh?
Did you have this phone in your hands before making these suggestions? Not even that ehh?
Of course this camera can break likewise it can be a phone saver if the phone drops on the camera and the protection spring inside the mechanisms absorbs the energy of the fall where normally the glass would be broken.
You absolutely can not tell yet if this construction holds for three months, three years or a decade. So far it seems quite sturdy and well made.

Vivo said they "tested" the camera to pop in/pop out consecutively 50,000 times. That is not the same as of saying they "guarantee" the camera will last separate 50,000 actuations. And its a false equivalency to say that because of that it will last a decade, you and I both know it won't so stop with the exaggerations.
And those are actual figures Vivo provided to me. Nothing has been pulled out of my beehive, but I cannot say the same about you. Like I said earlier, the "cumulative effect" is a known phenomenon and will play a role in this device. And this device is NOT special, it has to abide by the rules of physics like all devices before it, especially other similar devices that also break over time.
PS I would LOVE to get the Samsung Galaxy S7/S8/S9 Active. But you do know that they are carrier exclusive to AT&T and locked? You can't get it in Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand. Let alone North/West Europe. And you can also forget the leading countries of South Africa, Mexico, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan.
PPS: I'm using an LG G6 at the moment because it has one of the best waterproofing and structural stiffness. However it is immensely fragile on the front and back. So I'm using a front glass protector, and the rear is using a TPU Armoured case to absorb impacts. Its nice, but it barely surpasses the durability of the Galaxy Active devices, at the expense of being a wider, longer, thicker device... tradeoffs that are not quite worth it.

You will baby the phon... moreThey guarantee it's been tested to withstand wear and tear that would cover usage for more than half a decade for a normal user. With simple built in safeties for things like blocking, pressing and grabbing. Your personal opinion, based on numbers pulled out of your bee hind, is nothing but your personal imaginary ideas. ;)
Also, if you have a habit of drowning your phone in muck you buy something like a Galaxy S Active, not a normal phone.

You will baby the phone the first 2-3 months. Then you're more likely to drop it and ding it. Perhaps you do it a dozen times the first year and the phone survives. However, the muck and grease builds up over the months... and the dings have effect on the actuators, springs and rails. So by the second year, the probability of failure increases exponentially. And after another year of muck and dozens and dozens of dings... well you hit the third-year and the probability of failure skyrockets to near certainty.

I'm interested in a drop test of this device. Firstly with a bumper-case which has an opening for the camera-slot, and secondly without a case and the camera exposed. I think it will be less sturdy than the iPhone X.... meaning, very fragile and not worth risking for day-to-day tasks.

There will be a dust that can/will get stuck in the camera mechanics. How long time it will take Until that happens? Only time will tell...

The innovation is there, nothing to say about that. Unlicke apple and their non-innovation stolen from other who actually did try to innovate, this guys actually projected something usefull. I like the idea of hiding everything, everywhere. And they have done a good job. However what i do not like, is the quality. Flexex way to easy, giving the fealing of cheap material.
