You think in Europe are the devices so hard to find cause of Nokia? Nope, actually the carriers and Merchants are a big reason as of why this devices are hard to find. Limited and sometimes, never come in your place. Anyway, you cannot expect a Nokia store in every town in every country. Maybe in 10 years from now. But now? With their income, you just can't expect that. Another problem would also be the impatients this ongoing 'rumors" build up in people. Nokia never said they release something. But, this "news" bringers make it look like you wait since ever. If you look, though, at the release chart, Nokia did good with releasing their new devices. I mean, there was not a huge distance between announcement and release.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2018The global version will take forever to finally arrive. Tha... moreIt's usually 1-2 months, during which HMD seem to gauge global interest in the cheaper devices aimed at the Chinese market and change around things after feedback from the Chinese consumers.
And given the profits of HMD and Nokia, I think their strategy is working just fine. China has more consumers than the EU and US combined, so it's a prime market to get a foothold in with cheaper devices. More expensive devices receive a global release immediately, as they're equally aimed at western consumers.
As for the excitement, the few of us visiting mobile forums are a microscopic minority, so the excitement is still there for global consumers.

I'm dying to replace my old phone, I'd love to get a Nokia, but their current European offerings are either underpowered (Nokia 5 - if it had 3GB RAM I'd buy a year ago), unavailable yet (Nokia 5.1) or too large to my taste (Nokia 6.1 - too wide, Nokia 5.1 - too tall). X6/X5 hit the sweet spots for me, alas, who knows when they will arrive here?

The global version will take forever to finally arrive. That's the problem with hmd at the moment. They announce phones for China but the global ones take 6 months to reach anywhere else and by then things have moved on.
