Brand new pixel 2 XL costed at release date 1200.
So pixel book should be like 1500-2000.
No thanks.
Lenovo thinkpad for example would be much better option.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2018Windows use is the smallest ever as compared to total OS us... moreThat is only if you use broken metrics, counting mobile devices. Windows sales is up 7% the last quarter alone. Which is a stronger growth than any other PC alternative. Apple added tablets using mobile software to their metrics to synthetically boost their "sales" numbers last year, so, their numbers are technically going down today as that's a thing they can only do once. Mac sales can't keep up with Windows sales any more, which is why Apple has decided to do a reverse Microsoft and converge iOS onto their desktop devices. It won't solve Apple's problems though, just kill Mac OS faster.
The reason most people in the not-imaginary world use Windows on a PC is because Windows is the only place you'll get all the real applications and games.

iOS will not die out like the second comment said, it will continue to grow extremely strong and will always be there and will not die out like that useless guy said
Google Android with it's huge fragmentation and low quality apps will continue bro spam the market
After all Android is not even a real OS , it is an emulator which can be run even on my PC
Same cannot be said for iOS
Android doesn't evenly run natively on SOC , it runs through RunTime

AnonD-762416, 23 Jul 2018Windows use is growing like hell, not declining. That's als... moreHave you seen iPad sales?
The android tablets died because Google wanted to push their cancer of an OS that nobody wants (Chrome OS). If it was to develop android OS for tablets basically all small laptops would be completely dead by now.
Microsoft should make a statue to Google, they gave them a breathing room. Nobody who has a choice to use an iPad would use a surface pro. True professional use actual laptops and those who only need the basic thing + office + Photoshop (soon) buy iPad.
Google lost the party majorly because of their sh** OS (chrome OS). Better drop it and cut their losses.

AnonD-762416, 23 Jul 2018Windows use is growing like hell, not declining. That's als... moreWindows use is the smallest ever as compared to total OS use.
Most use android, iOS second, Windows 3rd.
What are you talking about? PC sales are in hell if it was not for the corporate users Windows would had been dead by now. Surface Pro is selling 1/10th if iPad.
Windows is functionally dead.
Google better not follow that example. Their OS would eventually die too. No influx of new ideas means dead software....

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2018By not developing android for tablets/small laptops Google ... moreWindows use is growing like hell, not declining. That's also a big reason why Google and other Android manufacturers started giving up on Android tablets. Another reason is the fact that most people who buy a 6+ inch phone is very unlikely to bother bringing a tablet anywhere. The post PC era died of suffocation and the convergence of the devices around it.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2018You have to agree with me Pixel devices are simply Over ... moreIf you're offended by the fact that someone in India can run the same apps as you on your $1,000 phone, you need to get out more. A lot more.

Looks good
But until this point I still rather buy a windows tablet for heavy lifting.
Chrome OS is certainly better than android for tablets, but it still hasn't matured enough imo. So the choice for me is still Win tablet for a portable desktop and a cheap android tablet (some come for less about $100) for casual gaming, web surfing and book reading.
iOS may be good, but I can't get used to it.

Pixel devices are simply Over ... morePixel has a better camera, iPhone has a better camcorder.
None is objectively bad at the other's strength. How, then, is the Pixel overpriced? They are following Apple to some extent, I agree, but how are they wannabes? The design is different, the feature set is different.
How is iOS the best, when it is a highly bug ridden OS, and Apple decided to put no new features this year for the same reason? Android has gotten much better over time and is similar in terms of performance, even if not same. Android allows for much greater personalization . Pixel 2 costs $649 and comes with an AMOLED screen with deeper blacks and better contrast, iPhone 8 (4.7") costs $699 and comes with an LCD screen.
The iphone X is much more expensive than 2 and 2XL.
Android caters to a much wider demographic. How is that bad? The user experience on the $30 and $1000 phones is different, because of hardware and software differences.
An iPhone SE costs $349.
You can also get an iPad for $329 if iOS is that important to you, but the UX will be different, won't it be?
Why spend buttload of money on newer phones if that isn't the case?

Personally i prefer chrome OS to android tablets.
Especially now most chrome OS machines have access to android play store.
They just need to enable multiple apps running in windows at the same time. And a chance to upgrade all android tablets to chrome os.

By not developing android for tablets/small laptops Google shot themselves to the foot.
I understand that they are focused in getting their products as away from open source as possible hence why they pushed their Chrome OS on tablets/mini laptops and Fuschia on phones (lately) but let us not kid ourselves their goal -above from making closed source software- is to make money.
I mean Bill's company almost went caput and if it was not for cloud to temporarily save them , Gates' prediction that all big software was to be closed source is so shockingly untrue that Microsoft would had been now seeing their demise with their own eyes.
Windows use is declining like hell, android saw the greatest advance in the history of OSes. First open software to be seriously tried into consumer electronics and it swallows the world whole . The very customization, cheapness of software and individual characters of AOSP is what made android as popular initially, it is still what keeps it as high.
It is basically what we saw in supercomputers in 2000s (again Linux overtaking every serious operation) and will see to the financial institutions in 2020s ( blockchain overtake everything).
Get it in your mind. Even if closed source software is initially better long term it is nothing a blip in history. See how many times worsens iOS is to android , now imagine the same will happen to Chrome OS if both lines were being developed.... Because the AOSP based line "would of been getting a huge push from the community whenever the other company -google- would feel stuck).
In the long term " writer's block" visits all closed source software and it dies, or turns to something boring and useless not much better than prior versions. The lifeblood of android is AOSP and wheverer google (or anyone) can develop an open source based OS they would dominate.
For example tablets. In/around the time of honeycomb /jelly bean android seemed to have been optimized for tablet use and sales were significantly for android. Then moved away for strategic reasons and now the market is back to Apple...
Never turn your back to long established open source software, especially if you are a developer of software. You will never compete with it, the battle is lost already. You can only hope to ride it...
Google made Microsoft's mistake w Chrome OS and is now paying it (far fewer chrome OS devices are sold than android tablets a few years back).
I suggest them to scrap that nonsense and "Microsoft's dreams" (a short sighted company) and go back with the program.
Make android available to most platforms possible, help for easier upgrade as far as as partners are concerned , make its security more robust by not straying too far away from the kernel's original intent... They still have time.
Else live long enough to see the wold being overtaken by an even better OS (especially if they are to finally go fuscia kernel), like Microsoft did before then. I understand that corporates are buffoons that think that their initial luck would continue forever and/or that it says anything about them apart from the fact that their first few products were actually good, but eventually they lose. All companies die within a century, become irrelevant in far less than that. There is a reason for that. Their streak of making good products ends early and since markets are not completely closed especially someone replaces their social function ....
I suggests google to stop being so enamored with what they are "capable of" (not much) and return to the few things that actually worked for them....

Pixel devices are simply Over price iPhone wannabes' which offer very low value for money when compared to a an iPhone ( they simply take better still shots and not great videos)
Apple at least has the best OS ( iOS to match it's price tag and more memory and better screen)
Put it this way a 30 dollar phone runs on Android and also 1000 dollar phone runs Android
Meanwhile iOS is very limited and feels special better quality of Apps and better services to match with
