Being the first iteration of an all new design, with an all new display connector in a much smaller space, its entirely plausible that the light sealing wasn't perfect on the first crack.

Apple had similar issues way back on iPhone 4 with the white model. It was no more expensive, but was much delayed (and ended up being ever so slightly thicker) because of unanticipated light leakage issues.

It's all marketing strategy, nothing is wrong with the 6.1inch budget iPhone. The reason is simple, if the budget iPhone arrives the same time with the expensive models ( 5'8 and 6'5 ) customers might decide to buy the budget one more since

People here are convinced it's an Apple scheme. I find it hard to think that the average customer can't wait a month for a phone.

Even if Apple used Samsung LCD panels for the cheaper iphones, they'll still claim 'unavoidable delays' due to 'supply shortage', 'production issues' or some other reason. They have EVERY REASON to release the more expensive models first so they can sell more of the expensive ones.

Or maybe Apple is just saying "issues with LCD screens" to get people to buy the other 2 models in the first months. But in fact they don't have any issues, they just postponed the cheaper model, because otherwise the majority of people would have bought the cheaper one, resulting in less money and units sold for the more expensive ones.

Prevent the expensive models from being canabalized. I wonder if they'll increase battery size for this model.

Revenge for using cheap parts Apple!
Steve is rolling in the grave, and gives this curse to you!
As Steve quotes this long ago: "Our competitors buy the panels we reject.."
