Consumer components are not made to be us... moreThere's no denying the fact that enterprise grade tech is superior vs its consumer counterpart and is almost on par if not on par with military tech but this doesn't change the fact of using a device to its full capable potential because oh my, it's going to break if I crank it up to a 100% workload 24/7.
But now let's back to the laptop hinge. Why are the manufacturer's falling so low with the whole "average" scenario? Why "average" in the 1st place? Why don't they think outside the box and go higher than a silly "average" by claiming this laptop hinge will withstand MORE THAN the AVERAGE user will use? Don't they see they'll get brownie points for that?
I'd automatically ban such deceptive claims from deceiving consumers and not let this junk be produced in the first place especially on a mass-market scale. These companies need to be taught on how to make quality products as a priority because skimping is never the right choice.
And back to me now; I usually buy high-end items, take care of them well, hence why they last but I expect them to shine bright like a diamond on demand or they're going back where they came from asap since I'm not going to deal with rubbish that OEM's think they can shove down our throats as they please.

Huh? It took Google nearly 10 years to realize those apps should be banned? What were they doing? Approve every app to boost Play Store numbers?

"Apps that contain or feature UGC must (...) define, in a manner consistent with the spirit of Google Play's Developer Program Policies, UGC that is objectionable, and prohibit that UGC via the app’s terms of use and/or user policy;
implement robust, effective and ongoing UGC moderation, as is reasonable and consistent with the type(s) of UGC hosted by the app;"
so... idk

And I think it's more like apps whose main functionality is the viewing of adult content, not those that may allow access to it without it being the main function (such as social media apps, you may encounter such things but that's not the point of these apps)

They are tested to wear down and last a reasonable amount of time with classic user usage. Cryptomining requires your device to go full throttle a very long time (you won't mine 5$ worth of cryptobucks in an hour), which is NOT a classic user usage. Even if you play demanding games on your phone, you're not playing 24h a day don't you? NVIDIA had to put disclaimers on their GeForce GPUs that mining voids warranty because of that, except their dedicated cryptomining rigs obviously.
Picture a laptop hinge. Warranty says the product should last 5 years. How did they conclude 5 years? Well, they estimated, based on pre-acquired data, how often the average person would use the hinge each day, which is say 6 times. Then they use the hinge back and forth non-stop and counting the number of times it worked before being broken. Then divide that value by the average and you get the longevity of the product according to the average user habits. If you use the hinge more than six times a day, you are bound to wear down the hinge faster, which means it won't last the specified 5 years. Cryptomining means you use that hinge back and forth non-stop, which is a very accurate comparison since transistors are a lot like hinges.
This is why Enterprise-grade components have such a high price premium. They're made for full-time full power usage and they also carry higher warranties. Enterprise SSDs, enterprise processors (Xeon), enterprise RAM (including ECC), enterprise GPUs (Quadro)... all of them are built to withstand such workloads that are beyond typical consumer usage. Why else do you think companies buy enterprise gear when it costs about 4x as much?

interesting... i wonder if the part about adult content (which basically means pornography, doesn't it) also includes "content browser" apps like DeviantArt and Pixiv or if those will need to have filters programmed into them that hide mature content. and what about browsers in a wider sense? the Reddit app for example, or Imgur. i mean, where's the limit of "contain adult content of any sort"? does it only apply to apps that explicitly contain adult material as in "it's literally in there" or does it also apply to apps that potentially display such content without actively restricting it?

Works out much better with less headaches for everyone...
As for crypto mining apps, good riddance, but not completely.
Why?
Because yes, it is true that most of those apps sucked but there's still a few good ones that you can count on your hand such as the legit Electroneum app. There's no mining whatsoever just a allocated hashrate based on the performance of your device and that's it. Just log in and press the start button and let the coins flow in increments albeit for real real and who knows, maybe those few cents will make your financial situation much more satisfying?
Last but not least, I'll quote you on this text; "And you'll just accelerate the degradation of your components." - Are you trying to say we should buy a phone or any possible device in the world and not use it to its full potential because it'll accelerate the degradation of components?
Another way this can be interpreted is by being with your partner getting it on but "you won't push yourself to the limits" to get that yearning satisfaction since you're basically killing yourself (degrading your manhood(your body are the components)) in the process right?
..and well.. didn't turn out pro after all James..

Yes none of those stupid duplicates like the ton of "cleaner/booster/cooler" apps that don't work and shove ads down your throat. Or the "earn money playing games" apps that are 99% the same thing and just change the name but even keep the same ads (CoinPop, Applike and others from the same dev) just to give a false impression that those things actually works.
I also appreciate that Google takes action against adult content, especially those that could appeal to children. Great job.
As for cryptomining apps, good riddance. It's not like you were really going to dig up a ton of cash with your lousy mobile phone processor mining numbers. And you'll just accelerate the degradation of your components.
