Huawei sends invites for IFA keynote, Kirin 980 incoming

The short 45 minute event is unlikely to bring more than just the chipset - certainly not the Mate 20. Still, the 980 will be among the first 7nm chipsets.

Their advantage is that, like Apple, they can tweak Kirin to work well on their software since they control everything from design to manufacturing. But 980 could have them take the lead yeah.

            The Kirin chipsets coming and it will be the best chipset of the year on Android.

            Why is samsung still using 10nm old process while Huawei can use 7nm tech... seems like they are getting lazy.

            Apple and Huawei make better chips than Snapdragon/Exynos/MediaTek

              Overall performance and on screen rendering could be 50% more powerful, but:

              Adreno 630 inside Androids perform well in FHD+ and also solid rendering in above resolutions, despite dealing with tough complicated graphical conditions.

              Huawei might miscalculate its expectations.

              Overall performance is directly depends on optimization which Huawei has full access and control over Kirin 980.
              Instead, Qualcomm offers a general package for too many brands with different optimizations from OEMs.

              On Screen render is not magic, but a tool to miscalculate expectations.

              FHD+ (Current trend) = 2.3+ million pixel to light up and do rendering continuously.
              QHD+ = 4.1+ million which is near twice as FHD+.

              Kirin 970 is right now winner if comparing P20 Pro and S9+, but the comparison is not fair as Adreno 630 must render twice at the same time.

              An obvious solution is available for Kirin 980 for 50% superiority over SD845:
              If stay on Mali GPU, pack Mali-G76 MP18.

              7nm can do heat dissipation.
              As Samsung tried, 18 shader cores are not suitable for 10nm manufacturing without proper cooling system.

                              50% better GPU than Adreno 630 is huge claim Huawei hope they can back it up

                                  GPU is fine. But I hope someone makes an SoC that really pushes Computational Photography to the next level with extremely fast HDR and something that can handle much higher MP photos. The main problem with the l16 Light Camera is that the Snapdragon 810 is just ridiculously underpowered for a device that runs upto 10 cameras simultaneously.

                                  I hope someone can yield the completely processing capabilities of the new Sony 48MP sensor. That could do wonders with 2 more cameras in a 3-camera setup.
