I reply just because that guy said that mumbo jumbo is a feature. There's little to no incentive at all for developers to optimize their games for chips that are basically a minority on the android world. Its the same reason that a lot of apps keep supporting android versions as old as Jellybean: they need a huge base of users to be profitable.

This price is crazy! You aren't fighting 835/845 at this price. And people have reported better performance on other games that work better after the update(honkai impact 3 for example). You the consumer don't have to do anything, when the app developers update by itself it will automatically be faster.

Everyone can do that, but its too much hasle for just a bit more stable framerate, specially cause the developer needs to be in contact with you (the gpu maker) and except for the big ones, not much people would like to make the investment.
But if you like to believe that as "it just works", fine by me. But its not a feature worth mention when in the 99% rest of games, adrenos run better.

Fantastic deal at 20K to be fair. Apart from lame EUI, everything else is top end. Nova launher will make it better.
This should kill Xiaomi MiA2 which does not have headphone jack or sd card slot.

No matter if for now it just supported 2 games, as some of other games already improve even without GPU Turbo supported. Plus Kirin 970 can play high end games smoothly already. And with that 'optimized for geforce' in pc, wouldnt it be a good thing in smartphones as well? No other smartphones can do that yet (even Adreno will implement the turbo tech later). This is just a future proofing that Huawei give to its customer rather than nothing, whats with the hate?
Now please tell me, for $290, which other phones can perform as good as Honor Play? Thats rite, none.
Stop complaining for the technology that they given us.

But where did i saw that before...hmmmm... oh yeah, "optimized for Geforce" on the PC.
Srsly man. If that video would showed the GPU and CPU utilization for each phone we could see if there's a bottleneck that can't allow it to run beyond 40fps, which to me, is the explanation for those "comparable" scores. Specially given how Digital Foundry has stated that even if the game's options max caped the framerate at around 30fps you can run it unlocked, and in the phone they tested (razer, s835) it runs around 38fps...
Even the settings tested here on GSMarena showed little to none variation at all.
Or, you can wait until the mate 9 or any other phone with the older kirin 960 to receive the magic and run the same PUBG version again to see if the framerate is more than half of what the kirin 970 delivered (and i say half because the GPU in the 970 have double the performance of the 960), that would be a confirmation that there's a bottleneck in that game...

Wow i thought the price will be $350? At $290, a flagship performance, this phone is the best in its price bracket hands down. Plus the GPU Turbo is indeed works as promised (go check youtube). Hopefully more games will be supported in future!

Seems like a good deal. I have ordered one for my relative. I wouldn't mind spending few bucks extra for 128 GB and 6 GB RAM though. But for an aged person this is more than sufficient

small battery for its size
Much delayed updates even with android one
while in Honor Play for 20k you get
3.5 mm jack, expandable storage, decent camera, High performance 970 Soc, GPU turbo, good battery with fast charging, they also said about 3D sound which is new thing I guess. And the both color options for that amazing metal design looks gorgeous unlike Mi A2's boring design.
since notch can be hidden there is no problem, but in mi A2 you get thick bezels all around.

Some F... moreNova 3 in India is 35000 inr ($500) while the honor play is 20000 inr ($295). So it's a lot cheaper while having the same processor and screen. Main difference is that the nova 3 has better cameras and more ram in the base version.
Brilliant pricing of the honor play. I need to upgrade my phone by the end of the year and the honor play is top of my list
