Steve, 08 Aug 2018Sony employs battery safe mechanism which doesn't allow the... moreHmm you do remember the s9+ and pixel both can run natively in 2k.. unlike the xz2 which is 1080p.. or as such the pixel 2 which is stuck on 2k.. also they are 18:9 phones.. using more screen... there are also more pixel per inch... so the fact they drain at roughly the same rate as a LCD... with a slightly smaller battery.. also the heat that the xz premium battery used to give off.. would damage the battery bonus.. the LCD screen on Sony's uses to heat up pretty fast to and the heat has to go somewhere..

The longer charge is due to Sony not wanting to make the battery lose its longevity faster, which is what fast charging does to other batteries. LCD is again for longevity, and you only save battery when you are using dark mode and such since AMOLED turns off those pixels. In real life, you still get a pretty good battery life from LCD phones, OLED makes the screen look better and saves some battery. As for the heating up battery, that is more likely to happen to phones going under Quick Charge or being used nonstop. I could be wrong, maybe a Sony phone battery does heat up possibly due to a bug in the software?

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2018Do you ever do any research.. or just talk out your backsid... moreSony employs battery safe mechanism which doesn't allow the battery to fail as quickly as possible so it throttles down the power to reduce the heat and charging time increases. Batteries fail faster due to heat that usually generates when charging approaches 80% or more.

Sony has the best battery management in Android market and some of the battery saving features in Android 9 are direct take overs from Sony's implementation.

XZ2 lasts almost as long as S9+ with bigger battery and OLED and it lasts longer than Pixel XL2 which also has much bigger battery and OLED screen.

So according to you if you turn the screen on while the phone is charging at night, that is NIGHT LIGHT? What the actual hell! You have no idea what night light is and you are trying to teach others? maybe you should go to google and educate yourself first before mindlessly trolling people who are stating the facts.
