AnonD-20221, 13 Oct 2011I know Android is open-source... But when phone manufacture... more"they basically put a software to prevent the user from tinkering around with the phone"

SE opened up their bootloaders for developers. They even gave the cyanogenmod team prebuilt software components for FREE. HTC is the same. Samsung have NEVER locked down any of their phones whether it be android, symbian, WM or WP7. Their phones are easy targets for skilled developers. Just wanted you to know the facts. :-)

AnonD-20221, 13 Oct 2011If you did not know Android users too root their phones....Correct TechnoFreak. I think Pain004 overlooked that part in my post.

Most IOS AND Android users aren't satisfied with stock OS that are on their devices which is why they root their devices.

          - Lockinfo

without those I wouldn't call iPhone a smartphone..just a feature phone with some apps.

But when phone manufacturers(Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericsson etc.) launch their phones in the market they basically put a software to prevent the user from tinkering around with the phone... Still many people crack the software and rooth their phones... Usually most people do it because they were not happy with the preinstalled version... That does not mean that version is bad... Its a matter of choice.. Same is the case with the iOS... We only try to make the OS better... iOS not perfect and the same can be said about all OSs out there... Its just a matter of which OS is better for a particular person...

oh wait....we need to jail break it so it's even better.

jailbreaking voids the warranty of New Iphones.

BRICKING the iphone by Apple would have less fanboys....but Apple needs their money so they let it slide. hahahaha

AnonD-20221, 13 Oct 2011If you did not know Android users too root their phones....I think in the case of Andriod is most likely possible since its an open source. And programmers from all parts of the world can share what they found beneficial for any Android users. And its up to the users to use it or not. Which is not the same case for iOS since Apple is the only source for the iOS.

There is no way that 80% of iPhone users and 90% of Android users Jailbreak/Root their phones. Its the enthusiast users that do the jailbreaking and rooting because they want even more control over their experience with each product then the majority of normal users.

It's the reason I will most likely only buy Nexus versions of android phones, its all about having more choices.
