The plates themselves contain no liquid, they're used to absorb or dissipate the heat on either end.

At that temperature the phone will be way too hot to hold. It will start thermal throttling way earlier than that, and you will stop what you're doing well before it reaches that temperature, because it will be too uncomfortable to hold.
Note 7 disaster was due to a different reason - they didn't provide enough space for the battery to expand into during charge/discharge. The pressure build up caused the polymer separator to get punctured causing a short circuit, followed by a lithium fire.

Inside hardware has a lot of changes yet people only look at the outside and said it is the same as last year. Very unfortunate.

The new copper heatsink is so close to the battery. Will the battery will be fine? As the note 8 copper strip still has some space from the battery, but this new copper bar, is so close and side to side with the battery. I dont want another note7 disaster coming to samsung. I hope they gk through all the possible effect to avoid the battery from exploding.

My S8 fell to the ground today. Not a scratch on the amazing gorilla glass, but the AMOLED now has a pixelated line near the edge... pricy repair for a drop that would normally do no harm.
it's 1cm in length, but since it isn't on a vital place I might keep it for a while. my next phone won't be a samsung though.

If Apple licensed iOS to other manufacturers, they wouldn't get away with a 4-yr design reuse.

No one complains if Apple uses the same design for 4 years, but everyone underrates this beast despite having significant improvements over the previous generation.
From outside also, it's pretty different from Note 8, smaller bezels (significant difference in the bottom bezel size). Note 8 looked really tall (like a remote), but this phone is wider (maybe because the screen doesn't curve that much) and a bit shorter making it more like a phone.

I think they mentioned the word "water" in the context of the cooling system inside the phone during their presentation, and not copper. I could be wrong though. Should check again the presentation video.
