Has anyone had this phone. The issue is that this phone loses out on software updates in future. That is the only thing that has me worried about it.

        Too late.
        Hence the price cut?

Well, only if HTC had done something like this, they would have still been alive.
Anyhow, LG has KILLED it with the price! This time, they didn't just bring the price closer to OP prices, but exactly at the OP6 (128GB) price! That's insane!
Now this becomes the obvious choice under the 40k price range.

Wow. The base 4GB/64GB model here in the Philippines is around $650, and that's not even the brick-and-mortar retailers' price, which can go up to $790.

Excellent. If only it had just a tad bit bigger battery. Nonetheless, it will annihilate the competition.
