    R17 Pro will surely cost much more than many kf the below 300USD Honor Kirin 970 phones.
    So, a slower phone for a higher price.
    Qualcomm has nothing in theie line up that would dethrone Kirin 970, except Sd845 and that is the flagship.
    The fact is that Kirin 970 phones are being sold for mid range prices and Qualcom has nothing to compete against it.
    That is a hole in their portfolio.

Dornez, 14 Aug 2018Isn't the Kirin 970 a flagship chip?The point I think he is trying to make is that Huawei is using the same Kirin 970 chip in its mid rangers as well (Honor Play) and with the 980 out, it will be the flagship chip and this older one will be relegated to more mid rangers coming this year and the next. And from the looks of it, no Qualcomm SoC below the SD 835 comes even close to it.

        So, Qualcomm's lineup isn't really f**ked as he/she is trying to put it, rather, OEM's going for their mid range chipsets have more competition now than ever before in the performance department from Huawei.

              Qualcomm really screwed up the mid-tier this year. They can't compete against Kirin 970, esp. in the gfx department. Their GPU is SD710 is 50% slower.

                    The title says SD 710 but on the article is says SD 670. What is the real processor?
