Oppo R17 Pro camera could feature a dual aperture

Another advantage over the non-Pro model, besides the faster chipset.

You are being fed a bunch of horse apples.
Compare the SUPER tiny image sensors, on smartphones, with the LARGE sensor on a full frame or APS-C crop sensor found on d-SLR's, and then ask yourself, will an f1.8 work THAT much better than an f2.2 setup?
NOPE. The image sensor is about collecting as much light data as possible, and given that a couple of my camera lenses, cost more than some smartphones, if you look inside just the d-slr lens units you begin to understand why photos on a super tiny smartphone won't ever come close.

Not sure which offers better performance: a good 1.4+ micron sensor (talking in pixel size) with a good set of lenses, or a variable aperture with small pixel size.

If anyone has enough info, please share!

I dont get the use of dual aperture in smartphones pretty sure f1.5 wont blow the highlight nor it will be soft to be unsuable

I am excited to see the OnePlus 6T now...

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2018Aperture has nothing to do with being same sensor. True. The aperture works with the "pupil" or actually the hole. That ranges from f/16 to f/0 with F16 being a teeny tiny hole for the light, and Gurgantuan blades that form the hole. And F/0 means no blades at all. The lower the F number, the better Low-light preformance theorertically. But there are more factors to consider other than how tiny are those blades. The current world record for the widest aperture in the world stands on f/0.7 it's openings are so wide you can vividly see the space!

Chinese should stop copying all others.

Samsung has already started selling their mediocre sensors to other brands. The S10 is supposed to come with a new main camera, and 2 additional cameras with tele+superwide setup. Hopefully Samsung will put a high-end setup this time.

Will be better than copying stupid Samsung..
