As long as its repair part is available. Suckers keep justifying a dead brand. Not worth it. Even Pixel is selling at $300 now with android Pie too.

This Peasant Phone already has Pie. Might take another six months until Note9 gets it.

Why would I buy 2 unit of Essential phone for $448 if I can just buy a brand new latest flagship at that price. So dumb. New phone have better repair support and spare.

Phone has amazing design. Dimensions of the phone are perfect. Only reason this phone failed is camera issues in the beginning and that killed it and for 700USD it was expected all is almost perfect. They focused on fast Android updates (software) but failed on camera. Public is very sensitive on unknown brands and slight mistake means "death". This days camera is very important because every phone manufacturer wants to point its camera (e.g. Huawei P20 Pro, Sony XZ2 Premium, Samsung S9, etc.) and then software updates. Maybe if price drops again on 225USD I will buy it just because of the design and software updates.

The sharp phone was announced in August 2017, and the essential was announced in May 2017. So yes, essential was the first phone with the notch and the phone everyone is copying. Even sharp.
Better get the facts right.

I was very fortunate to get it at $224 before it went back up to $335. This Essential Phone will be my daily driver to replace my LG G5. If the reception and battery life isn't good enough for my work as a driver, then I will keep it as my secondary to replace my iPhone SE.
I really like the halo gray. Has a matte finish which doesn't attract fingerprints as much as the plain black. I also like the size. It's a few millimeters shorter than the iPhone X and my first og Pixel. Think about it, the BlackBerry Key2 goes for nearly 3x more with a weaker SoC and already has Pie before the Galaxy S9.
This Essential PH-1 is essentially replacing my first Pixel that I sold nearly a year ago. Just better-looking and better SoC. I think it will be a collector's item phone like the Nokia 9 was. The one and only from the father of Android.

That looks a great deal. It must be one of the most compact 5.7” phones around.

the final line is whats holding this back. Started with ridiculous pricing which leads to really crap sales which means when it does finally reach the price it should have started at people are too scared to buy it as they dont know if the company will be around for long.
