Xiaomi-made Pocophone F1 is up for pre-order in the Netherlands

22 August 2018
The pre-order is not at the expected €300 starting price so it may be prudent to hold off.

Belsimpel is always more expensive unless they have competition. Since no one can deliver this phone yet, they have a monopoly for it. GeekBuying on the other hand let you order an pocophone for € 325 but that's without interference from the "dutch cbp"

nik.007, 24 Aug 2018I'd like you again to remember the OP1 & OP2 again, whi... moreI get what you're trying to say. But you also have to consider the fact that Flagship killer is not just synonymous with OP 1 & 2 anymore. I honestly didn't know the term was coined for OP 1 & 2 (and I doubt most people do) but people have started to give it a meaning in that its a phone that gives you all the qualities of a flagship for a low price. People expect more from a flagship killer than what OP 1 & 2 had. This does give you the flagship processor but that's about it. It's not fair to call it a flagship killer but rather a new breed of phones that are targeted towards gamers and this could be a good thing. It might actually lead towards better games. We might get better ways to control the game than just simply tapping on a screen. I'll leave it up to the marketing teams of companies that get paid to coin a term than come up with a shitty term myself but I stand by what I said that it's not a flagship killer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing...

kek, 24 Aug 2018There's subjective quality and then there's objective quali... moreI'd like you again to remember the OP1 & OP2 again, which, I am guessing, everyone knows were the devices that were tagged with the title "flagship killer".
They were the same in the day what this Poco is today.
The OP1 in India was 20k, at a time when that generation's Galaxy Note 4 was 50k+. Today, OP6 is 35k and the Note9 is 68k. You can clearly see the price difference has shrunk drastically, probably the reason they stopped calling it "flagship killer".
Poco has disrupted the industry the same way OP1 did.
Agreed the OP6 camera is better, but then again it's price is more than half of the expensive flagships.
My point was not saying that the F1 is better than it actually is, my point is if the "flagship killer" in 2014 meant the Oneplus 1, then Poco F1 is the "flagship killer" in 2018, not the OP6.
And as you said people looking for the S9 today won't look at Poco. It was the same in 2014, people looking to buy the Note 4 would have never even considered the Oneplus One.

nik.007, 24 Aug 2018What is a "flagship killer"? People are declaring this is, ... moreThere's subjective quality and then there's objective quality. A 12+5MP camera may be subjectively good, but it's objectively worse than a 40+20+8 camera. And no, MP is not the end all case for a camera, everyone and their dogs know that. But there's a good camera and then there's a camera that straight up blows you mind. This one's the former. There's also the design. It is objectively mundane. A slab of plain plastic with 2 lenses on the back and a FP sensor. You may like it non-flashy devices, and if so go ahead and buy what you like. But if you don't then you're not alone.

And I know it's all about subjective likings when you buy a phone. You want a phone that YOU like not others like and I never argued no one should ever buy this phone. If you want to play games and/or only care for the lag-free experience then go right ahead. Nothing wrong with getting just what you need. But if you want a phone that is lag-free AND stands out of a crowd AND takes great photos then this isn't one for you. Go for a Galaxy or a OnePlus or a Pixel or an iPhone. This is where the flagship killer term comes from. You wanna buy a flagship but then look at this and go "Well it's almost as good for a lot less money, I'll buy this." And the people who are buying flagships either don't care much for the phone it's just a brand of trust and know their phone will be reliable or want to stand out of a crowd when it comes to everything their phones can do. These phones have a hefty price tag to match.

So imagine a line, if you will, where on the very left we have phones that cost a lot but are bleeding edge like Note 9 or iPhone X or Pixel 2 XL. On the left we have phones that are cheap and great but you know what you're paying for, like say a Nokia 1 or Moto C or Redmi 5A.. While both F1 and OP6 are more or less in the middle the OP6 is farther left than the F1. That's all I'm saying.

pl2rts, 23 Aug 2018First of all where i wrote it's a flagship killer ??? Bett... moreJFC look at the first comment that I was replying to. Some Joe Schmuck called it a "flagship killer" and I said "it's not really" and now y'all are mad that I called it shit when all I said is it's not the same as a OP6. And I'm still talking about the design more than the build material. Build material is plastic and the design is uninspiring. But that's what they could do at 21k and I understand that. Not saying the phone is shit, it's not the same as a OP6.

kek, 23 Aug 2018I'm not saying it's not a good phone. It's great. But it is... moreWhat is a "flagship killer"? People are declaring this is, or isn't, a "flagship killer" based on what? Does this word have a dictionary meaning?
It is just a term that OP used when it's products were priced under 25k. It is just a marketing term, and people are debating as if it is a dictionary word.
Also it is subjective for everyone. Some would find the A2 a "flagship killer" because it has great cameras.
Even by Oneplus' apparent definition (the inventors of this word), a "flagship killer" is one with the top of the line SOC, and everything else being the best they could put for the price at which they offered their phones. And even they stopped using the term since they went overboard with prices, and also, their 2 flagship killers, the OP1 & OP2, were also built from plastic, not glass/metal.
And lastly, I would like to add, despite the word being subjective, most people would prefer a lag free phone than a pixel-like camera. Most people would love to settle for "good cameras" on a great performing phone.
And mind you this phone has a "good camera". Even if they swapped the SD845 for the SD710, and everything else the same, this still would have been a steal for this price.
Also, since Oneplus is the founder of the word "flagship killer", and considering they were referring to the OP1 & OP2 with the word, this Poco is definitely a "flagship killer" in those terms.

Better build quality and materials are a placebo effect as you have paid more money so the quality must be more premium while it's still a 50/50 chance that your higher price phone will come with defect or not.

The Honor play and POCO F1 seem to be apart from the Mi 8's and the OP6's target audience. Do you see nearly as much advertising on the camera or the build? It's "just" the flagship processor with a huuuge battery. These seem to be targeted towards the massive amount of people who play PUBG/Fornite on Android. Unlike the OP6 its not a flagship killer. Infact the POCO F1 and the Honor Play are the start of a new wave of phone aimed for gamers who just want a great battery life playing games at buttersmooth fps for a low price. Everything else isn't as important.

Price in Bulgaria is 459 Euro (530 USD) or 10 Euro cheaper than the OnePlus 6 and 10 Euro more expensive than the Zenfone 5z. Basically the price is almost double the one they state in video. No buy I guess.

Well at least for me as i have Note 5 AI and it cuts off the sound a lot so i expanded my internet data and started to use online radio cause of that. It goes quiet for few seconds then comes back and goes quiet again after few minutes and then will work for like 10 minutes and same thing. I have used several different headphones to test it. I have never had that issue with my Nokia phones in past but after my screen went static on Lumia 830 it went to guarantee and come back broken 3.5mm jack so i first bought a test subject from Leagoo Kiicaa Mix to see the quality of low end and cost phone from China and use it for half a year and bought Redmi Note 5 AI when it's global version was released. Even the Leagoo built quality was more then good enough for me and it was plastic. Down side of that phone was MTK6750 cpu that was as powerful as my 2013 Nexus 7 tablet around 40K Antutu score.
