Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL to shoot Super Selfies, boast updated Visual Core chip

A new leak goes into more details about the upcoming devices' camera setup.

Single camera on back & dual camera on front is just stupid. The biggest selling point of the Pixel smartphones is the back camera, so they should have added a secondary camera there (either wide-angle or telephoto), instead they're adding one to the front which only serves "selfie people" which are mostly not the target audience of this phone.

That combined with the fact that they've made such an ugly phone leads me to believe Google has lost their mind. Good, might as well fail & close shop!

(NOTE: No amount of advanced software processing can make a single regular camera take wide-angle or lossless zoomed photos. A secondary camera is required to take those)

    They are called secondary cameras for a reason. Man, I wish their focus had been the primary sensors. Seems to me , that the bought the decision makers from HTC too.

                    Google pixel is a good phone. No doubt l. But is it very difficult for Google to hire a good designer? I don't understand. Even Chinese companies are making beautiful phone. If google doesn't improve their design pixel will always be the phone for some tech youtuber and geeks. Not for average consumer. Apple and Samsung will always win in that department.

                        Great to hear the general photography advancement. Taking main shooter shots with confidence and not taking my usual camera on occasions would be just great. I was very impressed with a friends Pixel 1 unit so it just gets better. The notch is growing on me... I guess even if it was a straight bar, it is less encroaching on real-estate than the phones of old.

                        That said the smaller 3 with larger screen greatly appeals to me. Pixel 2 was basically the same size as HTC beautiful A9 which I still enjoy in hand. I would have changed last year to the Pixel 2 however, the glass to frame had a sharp edge.
                        Alas, it seems so far at least, that the Pixel 3 is the same size, has a very acceptable refined bezel with a large screen, stellar photography and other goodies... yay... looking forward to the finished product..

                          I'd sooner buy the bezel monster Pixel 2 XL after further markdowns than this. The notch is a sign of product sesign defeat (or just plain laziness).

                          10 points to Samsung for not giving a toss to notch with their Note 9.

                            While yes, Google has had one amazing camera, and since people say on this site that they just want one good camera, I have a counter. The dual camera allows for flexibility like an optical zoom lens or a super wide angle lens. I wished they went with 2 cameras for versatility

                                    Gotcha, so Google/Pixel has set themselves down this Instagram path by focusing on cameras and imaging above all else. At least now we're all on the same page and shouldn't expect a SOFTWARE company to care much about hardware or design aesthetics.
