Sony Xperia XA2 Plus in for review

Sony definitely offers a more modern design with the Xperia XA2 Plus compared to the XA2 duo it unveiled at the beginning of the year.

This design must have been used in the xz series. This model is better than the xz2. But, whatever, I'll get it anyway =).

        lol it's also lighter 205g from 220g and still dont have 4000mah battery in.
        Where as others have 4000mah on 180g

        I have never understood why Sony phones are so heavy as bricks.

          Not that I think they're bad, but they're not as unique as the design on the XA series, which is similar to the design of their old Ericsson phones before.

            I kind of wish the top bezel was equal in size as to the bottom one (either make the top bezel to be slimmer, or make the bottom bezel to be larger to match the top bezel size) but everything on this phone is so perfect for its category!

            Next year, I want Sony to also make the first mid range smartphone with HDR display and also implement a semi-sterep setup (earpiece+bottom speaker) added with IP rating, with a more powerful Snapdragon mid range chip (SD670 at least) and I'd be willing to pay $100 more, provided that most of the things remain unchanged but with some added bonus like 64GB base storage.

              And what tf are you talking about mediocre hardware?? Just so you know, the XA1 and XA2 series are both utilizing a flagship Sony IMX300 sensor that was ahead of its time.
              After the IMX500 series gets unveiled, IMX400 will move down to the XA lineup, which would again make them the most impressive camera smartphones in the budget segment.
              The screen quality of Sony phones is fantastic, even on budget phones. You've got spoiled too much by the contrast and eye-popping colors of OLED screens that you forgot that natural look and no burn in matter too. The XA2 Plus is the first smartphone in the budget segment to feature Hi-Res audio and DSEE HX for headphones; something that even some flagship phones lack.

              And to assess a mediocre hardware, I think you should know that there has been little to no reported Xperia XA phones to have such quality problem that's been affected to a major number of users. I have yet to hear a Sony phone to suffer from bootloop due to hardware failure or battery catching fire under uncontrolled circumstances. I have yet to see a Sony phone to suffer from slowing down due to battery degredation.

                XA2 Plus is the best designed phone on the market right now. I love everything about it.

                It really has that exquisite and sturdy product design cues instead of appliance design due to many elements coming together. No glass, no metal back plates is only a plus in my book as well.

                          I hear from faithful source that using more than 1s often can damage sensor. All the heat generated.

                          Steadyshot cannot be applied for 4K60. That is why xz2 does not have this mode.

                          Base ISO of dual cam is 200. It does not work all the time, just when it detects lower light. Not for macro , no HDR nor 4K.

                              Anonymous, 26 Aug 2018Low light photos are good but good light photos are worse t... moreI kind of wish Sony has included a RAW format shooting option in order to see the true potential of the hardware.
                              If not, maybe giving full manual controls will be enough (more than 1s shutter speed at least, ISO control to 51200, etc.)

                              But I'd honestly take that slightly oversharpened image over the blurred and purple fringed images from the other two flagship competitors.
                              As for low light, Idk if the image was just taken as normal photo or used the ultra sensitivity mode of the two cameras.
                              And Huawei's Night Mode should seriously become a standard, at least for flagships for now. It's crazy insane, and here's to hope the XZ3's 48MP Quad Bayer sensor brings some of them.

                                There are halos caused by oversharpening in both good and bad light photos. Hardware has improved but software still leaves much to be desired.
