They are in a different league altogether. Xiaomi would like to keep SD 670 and higher-ups exclusive to the Mi series as a differentiator from the Redmi series.

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2018What are you on? Redmi 1s that was released nearly 4 years ... moreOne major Android update, it never gets more than one major Android software update.

There are also other brands . . . not only that blind hyped Shaomi,

but no Xiaomi in higher midrange as far as i know

Don`t Expect any cpu upgrades untill you really see them. Xiaomi has very wild history of using what ever socs in their phones.

Water drop notch will be cool, I guess....

But hey, Xiaomi can't stop copying designs!

If not 670, there goes the 710 which is ahead of every other mid range chipset.

Nadalion, 29 Aug 2018And only one major software update.Go buy flagship if you want 2 or more major update, remember that almost all of manufacturer give only 1 major update for their midrange line up

Most Xia... moreMi5, Note2 and Mix1 received 2 android updates already and will probably get P. If you want updates you have to pay for a flagship, not a 150$ Redmi phones. In fact you should be happy if you get such with the Redmis because other companies don't provide even that for their cheap lineup. Also Miui and security patches for 3-4 years for all of their phones is more than what you get from others. Android updates are overrated and don't change anything obvious on skinned UIs.
