[deleted post]Agreed. My issue is that the premium doesn't seem to offer much more on paper than the vanilla XZ2 but it's not like GSMA style of journalism, they're normally much more objective

You get three cameras with a fantastic night mode, a nice OLED screen, a big fat battery, and a fingerprint scanner on the front. That's not to say the Sony Premium ain't good, it's got front facing stereo speakers, that UHD display, 4k HDR capabilities, and a fantastic camera. These two would prove to be a very fair comparison, and in the end, it would be the personal preference to choose between these two behemoths

Too damn expensive, Sony is not the brand it used to be and for an average person brand value matters people would easily pick Note 9 over this and it comes with 512GB storage and 8GB RAM too

Imagine ... morei understand you perfectly where you coming from there for let me put an example for you tell me what do you think aboout xiaomi pocophone? now if you think that the price is ok i agree remember thats a cheap chinese phone plastic back etc.... just check this these chinese company are smart make the phone plastic a more than less camera put in a powerful chipset etc... then people are like wow a powerful phoine that has everything and i dont have to pay a lot of money am sorry but for me i rather pay for something thats worth it i respect your opinion dont get me wrong..

Well , basic answer . Most phones today equip Pro , Plus , ..S moniker on phones and Sony has been trying to avoid mainstream moniker since Sony bought Ericsson Mobile stake . Remember Z1 Compact name ? It was chosen Compact over Mini , as mini already mind as negative word . Mini on 2013 phones and up , have degraded specs over its regular sized . ex : HTC One Mini , S4 Mini , LG G2 Mini , so on.

No phone should cost more than $860. Imagine if flagships are already $1000 in USA how much more they cost in other areas likr South America and Southern Asia.
It is much better than P20 Pro. Better cpu, better screen, better video skills, faster, bluetooth 5 , better speakers, faster updates.
P20 Pro should never been out for more than $570. Compared to Mate 10 Pro the only advantage is the mais camera. Nothing more.

Huh? The XZ2 has been on sale in the UK since at least May with Carphone Warehouse.

Went through the entire review of the XZ2 Premium, sadly low light shots aren't impressive not worth paying this much for a phone without a headphone jack, average looks and poor battery backup, 64gb storage and lcd screen.
Go with P20 Pro, Note 9 or S9+.

Their argument is 'premium product, premium price. But 64Gb memory, lcd screen and no headphone jack isn't premium.
