The Pocophone F1 can't stream HD video from Netflix, Hulu or Amazon as it turns out

30 August 2018
It lacks Widevine L1, but that's actually not uncommon for Xiaomi phones.

It’s not like people who buy this phone actually pay for a legal streaming service. They are mostly stealing movies/music from torrent websites and they install cracked apps, so this means nothing to them.

People always complain. Its cheap cell phone.

Just came here to LMAO! The DRM video quality matches the overall quality of the device. Not surprising. Enjoy this magnificent smartphone!

Same with Sammy, though not Apple's level, but still they rehashed the same design element for 2 years in their 4 (6, actually) flagships.
Just don't call it crap just because it is cheap and you have the money to buy expensive shit, and you don't like seeing people enjoy a phone for 300 dollars with the same, or even better performance that your 800 dollar phone.

Even I wouldn't have known that a phone named Poco even existed or that a 4k TV is available for INR 45k had I also been a millionaire, but as it turns out, 99% of the world is not, so yeah a Note9 user is most probably rich enough to get a cheap TV. I was actually talking about the remaining 99% people.

For example, I have subscribed to the Netflix INR 850 a month plan which some of the younger family members are sharing (one of which has a Xiaomi device). Netflix allows 4 simulatenous streams on this plan.

There is no real reason for any device manufacturer to not get Widevine L1, to the extent of my knowledge.
