The use of the iPhone XS name is apparently a certainty at this point.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 20187 -> 8; speed bump, camera improvements, wireless chargi... moreShows how little you know. The iPhone 8 is very far from being a 7s, the new chip with the in-house graphics chip and other major improvements places ip8 very far from the 7. People who bought the 7 to save few bucks must be aware that they lose out on the biggest improvement ever in AR capabilities and also in other things like the camera. Differences are huge, i will rate 8 as twice as good as the 7. iPhone 7 share more with 6s than with 8.

8 markes a big shift in generations, much like the shift to 64bit that came with 5s, its unfortunate that till this day many people belive the 5s has a lot in common with the iPhone 5, which it doesnt. Lucky Apple didnt make the same mistake with naming the iPhone 8.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 20187>8... Are you?7 -> 8; speed bump, camera improvements, wireless charging + design refresh to accommodate it. A 7S in all but name, I just didn't want to confuse people.

Were I new, the historically evolutionary rather than revolutionary development of iPhones might be lost on me, and unfamiliarity with the subtle differences between the 7 and 8 might lead me to make a 'comeback' that fails on multiple levels. Such as that one.

Alien , 01 Sep 2018Exactly! Different people, different needs. I'm the type t... moreWell, I’m an app designer, user interface and user experience designer for both android and iPhones, and I prefer using iPhones because everything just works with them. Android phones just have hiccups, which is unacceptable for me. Each version of the OS is never a finished product/experience.

I have been a developer for the past 10 years and worked at two of the top 10 biggest online companies (still am) while doing my own work as well, so I am not your average lightweight user.

Working with both platforms and using multiple phones for testing as part of my job, all screen sizes, CPUs, resolutions, etc., I am far away from ever getting an android phone for my personal use. The OS is an incredible mess, security holes everywhere, weirdly designed APIs, performance issues, inefficient code, and many, many other mindboggling decisions taken by google - its like it was designed/coded by university undergrads in a garage, as their show n tell assignment.

Even though iPhones are more expensive, basically you get what you pay for. And its a shame that so many good hardware phones from the likes of samsung, sony, lg, etc. are running so inefficiently because they are using android... I can wholeheartedly say that android takes a phones value down. You can even see it yourself with android handsets selling for half the price 4-6 months after their release.

And trust me, changing icons, fonts, widgets, launchers and so on, means nothing as you are meant to use the apps on your phone, not look at the homescreen for hours.
Besides, always fidgeting with “customising” your phone is probably a sign of adhd... it’s an addiction with no end result, as you will never find a setup/layout that is just right, perfect, and will work for you for more than a couple of weeks.

You are a gifted, smart and innovative person who gets to fiddle round with his phone, how you like. And that too at a price about 4-5 times less than us regular users who are getting the most bare necessity out of our phones. Not everyone's equally smart bruv : (
Any smartphone how to for dummies worth reading out there? Umm like where I'll learn how to add a handy widget to my 'smartphone'?

There are a lot of people that use smartphone for basic use (calling, playing games, watching online, and brwosing). If you're a geek, then so be it! You can't make anyone or someone to be like you! YOu're gifted! isn't it nice?

Alien , 01 Sep 2018Exactly! Different people, different needs. I'm the type t... moreI work in an engineering department of multibillion company. All senior egnineers with PhD's in engineering and software development use iPhones and iPads. Honestly. I am a programmer myself and I use iOS. So i don't think what you are saying is always the case.
When I pay 1000 pounds for a phone I want it to be perfect aka it shouldn't need modification or personalisation. Some people don't have the time to do that. They want something reliable and solid.

I use android phones (Galaxy S7) only when I want to use "pirated" things or media. But with spotify and netflix I don't need android anymore.

Different people, different needs. I'm the type that will always try to modify the OS of my SMARTphone, change it as much as possible according to my standards and desires, delete, modify or add system apps etc.
I've tried to use an iPhone, I gave it the chance, but now it sits somewhere in a drawer, gathering dust for a few years.
If you're a default user, iOS is the best, but if you are intermediate or experienced and want something different, it's the worst possible choice.
I simply cannot use a phone where the only thing that can be changed is the static wallpaper.
What matters the most in a phone is the software experience, not the shell that houses it.
Funny is that most of the default users think that many Android users don't buy the iPhone because of budget reasons, which may be true in some cases, but definitely not mine. It's because of the software involved.
But default users are so easily brainwashed and impressed it kinda makes me sad.
Wake up sheeple, read a programming book, watch a yt tutorial and OPEN your minds!

Alien , 31 Aug 2018If the iPhone would have SD card slot and it's OS wouldn't ... moreDifferent people different choice and different need. Why it's so hard to understand. Not every one has time to spare to do all these to a 'phone for God's sake. I need a phone for calls, media, stock market watch, emailing and media consumption. That's it. Any android or iphone will do my job. Seems like you need little more iq to figure it out. Plus I must tell you apple provides much much better support in both hardware and software level than any other android phone. It's an investment in apple for atleast 5 years where as it's a spending in android every 2 years.

Greedy Timmy and his expensive glass and metal sandwiches. Be prepared to buy dongles...

Basically, just making everything as hard as possible to achieve/complete.

Newsflash: you can actually do all those things on a laptop/pc and be done with them in a fraction of the time.

If you really want to be the most advanced and “high iq” user out there, you would get a Lumia 950/950XL, install the desktop version of windows 10 on it, and do all the coding on that. Now THAT is true geeking! Also, totally inefficient - just like doing it on android smartphones or any smartwatches.

Oh, and you can also get a 12 inch tablet with calling capabilities and use it instead of a smartphone. True geeking.

But till then, they would have to pay me a LOT of money to use one and I'd still cheat and use an android phone :D
It's not the price that bothers me, I have the euro for it, it's the software that makes me say NFW KEEP IT!
I'm into bash scripting, C, C++, pen testing and iOS can't be used to write code and run it in its terminal. Unless you jailbreak, but everything goes CRAZY with bugs and lagging, while on Android, root makes your phone better in every aspect. Dunno if you even have a clue what I'm saying..
Go ahead, use a "default" device, while I modify my android to the bone. Guess not everyone has the IQ for it, but I keep forgetting lmao
Also, I hate iTunes so much..
Don't hate me for stating the truth by the way.
