You can sell your iPhone X at 68% of its value just a week before the new one arrives

06 September 2018
It turns out, iPhones depreciate the least a year after they are released. The iPhone X is a record-breaker right now.

Grasvreter, 06 Sep 2018Do you guys not check the charts?? It says the oneplus one ... moreWell, how many people are willing to pay a lot for a used OnePlus? Just because you want to pay a lot it doesnt mean people line up to buy them, you can try to sell it higher but you will have a very hard time finding the right buyer. I said it before and i say it again, iPhones are the cheapest to won, you get so much money back even after many years. iPhone X is ridiculously cheap top own, OnePlus is on the other side of the chart as one of the most expensive phones to own. Huawei P20/p20 pro also stand out as a very expensive phone to won, together with the Oppo flagships.

There is something fishy going on with "used" iPhone sales markets, isn't there? I just took a look at the two most commonly used in Ireland and they are flooded with unopened iPhone X boxes.

Their quotes are ridiculously low for every device I have tried inserting. They might be good for comparing relative depreciation among different devices, but not at all for absolute values. They would give me 70 GBP for an A-grade Xperia Z5 lol. 20 for a Tablet Z. Thanks, but no, thanks. Keep your filthy money, I'll keep my great devices.

IPhone X hasn't outdated yet. It will still be usable for about 2-3 years.

Are Apple fanboys (iDiots) really that stupid?
Why they need the every latest iPhone that is released?
Are they just wasting money to show off?

Do you guys not check the charts?? It says the oneplus one lost 94% of its value after the first year. That means: 250 euro * .06 = 15 euro. According to this chart, after 1 year of use, a 1+1 was worth 15 euro.

                    Thats untrue and absolutely stupid.

Hilarious to see that HTC phone loose 95% of it's value. The 820 is not bad spec-wise, but 95% loss after a year...
Surprised the Pixel 1 lost 75% though.

Well how much i can get for brand new Apple Xs Max 512GB???
I am tired and bored of apple.
Android was it is and it will be always a better option for me.

Bought my Marlin on release, for 67k INR, its a privilege to own a Pixel, not a sarcasm, but you have seen that resale value as well, so yeah, next phone will be an iPhone, as long as they have an acceptable camera anyway, resale value does matter, never could use one phone for more than a couple of years, and never can give in to those cheap chinese garbage anyway! Damn money wasting thing keeping up-to-date with phones!

My tip: Buy 2 smartphones (one cheap mid.range and one flagahip) 2-3months after release and sell it after like 8-9 months and buy a new one
Say if I want a smartphone and assume S9 just got unveiled (and its january) I'll wait 2-3 months during that period I'll buy a mid or low range like Nokia 2 or anything $120 or below than after 2-3 months I'll buy S9 which at that time should cost $100 less on most places or possibly have great bundle packs too then sell it at the end of the year using it for 8-9 months or 3-4 months before S10 assuming its set to be unveiled.in january that way my S9 will be in warranty and has a good chance of being sold at really good price and while I wait I'll have a backup mid range smartphone or you can just buy a flagship use it till it dies (should be atleast 4 years) then buy a new one that way you fully utilize the price you paid

                              What a well chosen name

AnonD-546724, 06 Sep 2018Here, in EU, If you bought a iPhone X for 1159bucks back in... moreThese are definitely expenses, not investments. An investment should never mean a loss. A house, a land, stocks, perhaps a soon-to be-classic car... those are invesmtents.

That chart is telling me to never buy LG again. I actually like LG though. Also shows that the best move is to buy a smartphone ONE YEAR LATER. Who cares about reselling it when you are keeping it until it breaks?

This is why the endless planned obsolescence continues. Apple is helping the Earth with their future e-waste. As long as they have a trillion dollars, they don't care or neither will their fanbase who wants the latest every single year once they sell off their old one.
