Apple iPhone XS, XS Max and XR announcement coverage wrap-up

All the important links from Apple's event yesterday gathered in one place.

The XR is looking great.
I was hoping rumours of a new Mac Mini would eventuate, but I'm guessing that would be in a different presser.

If you go read news from MacRumors, the XR is expected to account for at HALF of the total sales between the three.

I'm NOT really an Apple fan. My smartphones is rooted with iPhone but I stopped caring about them by 2013 when the HTC One M7 was released. Been using all that gesture swipes for years since webOS.

This RED iPhone XR could be the sexiest iPhone I have ever seen since the space gray 5s. I can't say SE because all it did was copy the 5s minus the chamfered edges. It looks better than any color of the X/XS and matte black iPhone 7.

iPhone designs that deserve at least a 9/10 from me -

    iPhone 5/5s/SE (slate/space gray)
    iPhone 4/4s (black)
    iPhone 2G
    iPhone XR (red)
    iPhone 8 (red)
    iPhone 7 (matte black)

I'm very, very particular with my phones and how the UI is arranged and looks. Even each settings has my attention to detail. Owned the iPhone 2G, iPhone 4, Nexus One, HTC One twice, and S7 edge to be spoiled by design and build quality.

Been in the phone for nearly 15 years. The red XR is very exciting to me and we can all save $200-$250 losing features many of us don't care for. As long as the SoC is the same as the XS and better than the X, I'm good. SoC, Face ID speed, and camera quality werent downgraded.

Red XR is most exciting iPhone design I've seen in five years and it will be available right away. No need to wait. This is the one to get, folks. Expect red iPhones all over the place.

What ever people think about their phones, Apple sure make great promo videos

The most boring lainch ever occurred.

Arguably, the year's most boring launch.

My only wish for the 10R model was it was basically the same size as the "4.7 iPhone models. Or better yet, same as the SE or in-between the SE & 6/6s/7/8. Now the 7 becomes the cheapest and most compact iPhone to succeed over the SE. Having the same amount of RAM as the 10S would've been nice too.

Look at it this way. Compare the iPhone 10 vs 10R. The 10R loses Telephoto but has the better SoC, same amount of RAM, but $200-$250 cheaper. In comparison to last year's $999 X, the XR is worth it. Better value. Compared to other Androids like say the OnePlus 6, then of course not. Only the SE was priced correctly.

              I'd rank it -
Apple Watch Series 4 (ECG is revolutionary on a watch)
Apple iPhone XR (Ferrari red, 128 GB)
Apple iPhone XS (silver, 64 GB)

No interest in the others. Only reason why I want the XS more is the size. The XR is about Galaxy S7 edge height. But for value, the XR is better. If I got the silver XS, it would simply look like last year's X. At least the XR can make you standout. You save $200 and double the storage of a base XS. Don't care for Telephoto.

The XR is not only the cheapest, but it also has the best battery life among the entire group. Obviously, less ppi as the screen is more like 720p. I was never crazy about OLED. Potential burn-in years later. Totally fine using LCD. That's why the XR wins in my book. Cheapest, better color options, and best battery life. That's all I need. Don't care about the cameras.

XR is only a holdover anyway. The iPhone likely gets USB-C next year like the iPad Pros. You will eventually throw away your Lightning Connectors and can soon charge your iPhones and Androids with one plug. Add 5G speeds. Using an XR or XS for 2+ years isn't really thinking for the longer run.

These 3 phones could have been avoided, and people would have been happy with the iPhone 8 and X

Unbelievable that it sells so well. People so know better.

Now THIS is A watch I'll be Proud to own! Too bad it can't be paired with Android Q_Q

And As always too much fuss over nothing ....

All this hype over 3 identical phones ...

Tim Cook turned iPhone from the smartest Mobile on Earth To the dumbest mobile on Earth...

It's either too big or too small or too cheap (still too much money but cheap)....

Not to mention the useless battery capacity...not at all matching usage or screen sizes...

                      Apple failed miserably this year...

We all know size does matter in fact size is everything in most cases...

Apple doesn't seem to be getting it right ...
What is wrong with a phone with the right size right proportions and right price with no cheap plastic ...

Is that so hard to achieve ....

Lots of other companies did it but Apple can't ....

If you want to wrap up the coverage in one word, it will unfortunately be: "Yaaawwnn....."

the apple trio are just bulleshitte...no new innovation from 2017 model iPhone X...just difference is screen size....

Kangal, 13 Sep 2018How come no-one knows the battery (mAh) capacities? Ther... moreApple knows but as usual it's much smaller then other flagships that's why they don't mention it. And they already said during presentation that battery will last longer (they even said exactly how much longer).
Apple strategy is simple - they talk about things what is important to customer. Most customers don't care about battery mAh, but about what they could get with full battery.

How come no-one knows the battery (mAh) capacities?

There's good reason to believe that Apple is correct about the A12-Bionic chip, using 40% less battery. However, I think the new high-res displays and 120Hz response will chew more battery to even things out. On top of this, Apple will probably likely synthetically decrease the internal battery's capacity to keep it close to previous generations. The reason why Apple does this is to reduce the technical progress, and scale improvements over a longer period.

So finding out the mAh is an important spec detail.

Like they did for the Apple Mac's, a lot of people really wish they had incorporated "USB C" on the new devices & chargers!!
The Apple folks really need a kick on their butt.
