N96 and the likes all had arm./multimedia processors from STMicroelectronics (now part of ST-ERICSSON) :) THEY EVEN HAVE launched HTC SENSATION IN CHINA WITH ANDROID ... Which ever SoC they select from ST-Ericsson, it will have to support Microsoft's Directx technology. As far as I know the Mali-400 GPU used in the current ST-Ericsson chips does not. The Mali-T604 does Directx which might come out in the next ST-Ericsson SoC.

dual core might be good, but havent Nokia tried to design a WP7 phone with a hardware QWERTY? a la n900? or milestone? or make it more cute like flipout?
and yeah it will be my primary target for Christmas..
tired of all these slim but brittle phones, fast and eye-catching yet unable to make text messages with ease?

today i received at orange romania for testing samsung galaxy s2 LTE with 4.5 inch, s2 HD LTE with 4.65 inch and 1280x720 screen resolution and galaxy note with 5.4 inch and 1280x720 screen resolution. Galaxy note is unpractical,it is huge, but galaxy lte and especially galaxy lte hd make me throw away nokia n9 and lumia from my office to another departaments. nokia seems to be in the ice age compared with samsung

Sa... moreYou are right about modem chips - they are best selling ST-Ericsson products, but here we talk about processors, not just modem chips. NovaThor SoC, or Nova processors are far from bestsellers, they are new name and have to compeate with giants like TI, Qualcomm, nVidia ect.
It is kinda like breaktrough for ST-Ericsson to work with Nokia, espatially that Windows Phone is still limited in using no other than Qualcomm chips.

Makes me wish I waited for one of the Nokias. Just ordered a Samsung Focus with the 65nm Snapdragon, I personally love Windows Phone, selling off my Android one for this.
Just wish it had better GPS apps (like Copilot) and a larger market.

Why not on Symbian phones also.
Symbian has a huge ecosystem of familiar users, developers, apps. Nokia should not overlook them.

As far as Nokia goes, Meego is gone but Samsumg picked up the slack along with the main partner Intel and we shall be seeing some Tizen devices REAL soon as the SDK and a few devices are stated to come out in Q1 and Q2 of 2012. I can't wait!
