Apple iPhone XS Max components valued at $443

Sounds like the cellular and wifi components are real cheap on the xasses

Went to Best Buy yesterday. Went to play around with the XS and XS Max. Went nah. Same ol', same ol'.
The phone that captured my curiosity was the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. I played with it many months ago when I had interest in the XA2. I really like how smooth the UI is. When I went to play with the Pixel 2 XL, it felt slow. The 0.5x animation is required. The XZ2C was still on 1.0x but already felt like 0.5x.
I think the XZ2C is pretty underrated. Other than no headphone jack and it's 12mm thick, it's actually one of the cheaper devices ($499) with a Snapdragon 845. Still maintains the microSD and no notch. Will wait on its successor in four months and hopefully it's thinner. The bigger XZ3 design is stunning. Best design Sony has in years.
I will just never be a fan of glass backs. That's why the iPhone XS will never be my top choice. I'd rather get a matte plastic back like what the XZ1C and XZ2C have. Or I will continue to use my halo gray Essential Phone for years. The halo gray with the matte finish is perfect for me. I hate fingerprint magnets.

443$ phone + 557$ advertisement per phone + 248$ profit + 1$ to produce it at foxconn in china - just estimating here but you don't buy a phone, you buy advertisement, free phones to influencers, etc.

This is jus ridiculus! Yet it costs $500 to replace the back glass? For a Trillion dollar company they sure are greedy. I don't want to hear about costs for research, logistics yada yada ya. Atleast Xiaomi is honest with its pricing. The same phones most people call cheap chinese shxt is actually similar to the cost of the most expensive iphone lol. I'm rooting fo Xiaomi now.

Typically in line with everything from their tiny dongles to big overpriced phones, anywhere from a 200% to 1000% profit margin.
I think the components probably cost Apple much less because they place large orders up-front and buy many components from the same manufacturer. The actual price is closer to $300, so a 300% profit margin on this phone.
$300 to pay for the phone, $800 right into Apple's pockets, and you're willing to pay because an Apple phone is a status symbol, and you want everyone to know you have one.
