But as time goes by, Google changed the policy so the updates still comes from the oem. But, it's just a certificate from Google to guarantee your device getting good supports.

Snapdragon, 26 Sep 2018I thought Android one phones are supposed to get updates fa... moreNot only fast, the updates were supposed to come direct from Google. Looks like another lie from the "Do No Evil" company, just like they did with the AndroidWear platform. And because of that track-record I can now expect the AndroidOne (formerly known as GPe and Project Silver) to have a slow meaningless death a couple years later.
Thus I find the utility of having r00t and unlocked bootloader is even more important today than yesteryear. We used to modify our phones to become better, now we need to modify them to not become worse.
This wouldn't be a problem if we still had the proper Nexus (remember Gnex, Nexus4, Nexus5, Nexus 5X), alas.

pl2rts, 26 Sep 2018Funny to see that if updates are delayed on Nokia phones t... moreProbably because Nokia phones have a solid track record when it comes to updates and support, and are keeping their customers updated on plans and progress. It renders a lot of goodwill, and gives the company a bit of leeway and understanding when things don't go exactly according to plan.

Funny to see that if updates are delayed on Nokia phones then everyone is so happy about it. If other brands get updates later then they whine how good is to have stock android that get updates the fastest.

I was thinking they would delay the update until the presentation of the new 7 10/04 (and maybe announced it during the event). Glad it seems false.

"It's better to wait a little longer for all the issues to be ironed out than a half-baked release, right?", right.

Its always better to receive a higher quality update than get a buggy update early, and very pleased to see that the organisation acknowledged and announced the delay, impressed :)
