nick, 05 Nov 2011they'll probably release it running 1.6 donutWhile I understand your comment (x10 was really bad with updates..), it should be mentioned that in the past year, SE is better with updates than anybody else. My xperia arc got already about 5 updates, and is currently running on recent gingerbread build. Plus SE promised to bring ICS to all of their 2011 phones.

Its too late 1.2 ghz and 1.5 wont make any difference in operation ,,4.3" is no new,, here young user pay for its functionality rather than style,,, some serious hardware changes are needed to make buyer feels difference between sgs2 and any other . Otherwise minor changes in this kind of devices cant attract,,,

i wonder what CPU and GPU it would use. hope it uses the gpu that the iphone 4s uses and the cpu on the samsung s2

Great looking phone. Lately Sony Ericsson released several great phones such as the XperiaMini, XperiaArc S and my phone the XperiaRay which is a fantastic phone.

This right here ladies and gentlemen is the start of a year of 2012 Sony branded handset dominance. The specs are ridiculous, to the point that if it weren't for all the images and leaks, I wouldn't believe it was actually happening. 12MP camera? THAT size battery?! THAT quality and resolution of screen? Somewhere, someone at Samsung just did a nervous neck tie loosening....
So now not only have Sony nailed the style and curvature of their handsets, but they have the hardware to back it up. If there was ever a criticism of Sony (Ericsson), it was that the hardware was always a good while behind the other leading manufactures, and it proved difficult to cross sell hardware that was seen as 'old'.
Not any more.
This phone will be a beast, and if marketed correctly, will do for Sony what the original Galaxy did for Samsung.
I haven't been this excited about a device EVER, and I've seen a lot of cool stuff come and go. This kind of device makes me proud to be associated with Sony, and it's going to be the start of something special that elevates Sony to the top of the smart phone market.
Sony's take over of Ericsson will shake the entire smartphone world up. No one, not even Apple, has the brand awareness of Sony, especially in the Asian market, which will be key to their success in 2012.
Hugely impressed, and cannot wait to get a hands on! :)
