Weekly poll: can five cameras seduce you to buy the LG V40 ThinQ?

07 October 2018
LG is working hard to stay at the bleeding edge of camera tech, but will its efforts be met with a boom in market share or with indifference from users?

Kingslayer, 07 Oct 2018I'm game for 7 cameras with 5 on the back with different ap... moreYou're one of the few people who nailed it. The cameras haven't been calibrated properly. Everything about each canera is different (starting with the colour science).

Please word your Polls more carefully. There is so much more than love and hate ('it could have been implemented better', 'the pricing is not appropriate for a company running in losses etc etc).

3 cameras at the back is a SUPERB idea (especially for 3 focal lengths), but the implementation IMHO is something that could have been done better. All the sensors should have been the same. There is a difference in calibration and therefore the colour science if each camera is different (even the 2 cameras in the front have different colours).

The idea is great and the main camera at the back has also improved vastly. But the other 2 cameras at the back are a little disappointing. And the different in field of view of the front cameras is dismal.

I stopped buying Samsung after they started using front curve screen.
Just do not understand the reason of have curve screen on the front.

For me is better to have best audio DAC in a phone than a camera that i barely use it

playforever, 08 Oct 2018Love it or not love it has nothing to do with 5 cameras. I ... moreI feel the same, I went with "Love it", because I do love the V40.
However given that the article title is "Weekly poll: can five cameras seduce you to BUY the LG V40 ThinQ?" - there should've been more voting options like "I already have the device I want/need" or "I'm waiting for something else". Or... "I already got the Note9 a little over a week ago and can't afford a V40 as well". Because that last one is my case =))

Although I have nothing against notches (I briefly considered the G7, but carriers where I live didn't offer the 6GB option, then - also briefly - considered one of this year's iPhones), if given the choice, I'd rather go notch free. Had the V35 been available in Romania through official channels (especially mobile carriers), I would've gone with that. Well... Maybe next time, 2 years from now.

And before anyone says I'm a Samsung fanboy, I have 2 things to say:
                a. The Note9 is the first Samsung smartphone I've ever owned and
                b. I hated Touchwiz (until the revamp that came out with the S7) and their amoleds up until the S4.

Love it or not love it has nothing to do with 5 cameras. I am fine with 2 cameras or 3 cameras as long as it can take good quality pictures with fast focus.
LG need to rebuild their reputation, has to offer more than its main competitors in order to attract more to buy.

I selected "Love it" because I love the screen size, wide angle camera, high quality audio and especially still having the 3.5mm jack. Hopefully, when the price is good, I will buy one. It seems to have all features that I like it. The only thing that I think LG should put a bigger battery (3700-4000mah) to make it more attractive, and compete with Note9.

Actually i like this camera setup from LG, but LG always known as low quality phone standard.
So i will skip LG brand.

Any LG users here used the phone for more than 2 years here?

And yes! suffering from pathetic battery life, does not last a day with low usage. So no more LG for me and obviously voted NO.
However, I really love the wide angle camera of my V20, not that it produces great picture, but surely it provides a great perspective to any picture.

Nope. LG cameras are nothing amazing at all after seeing what P20 Pro can do. I used to have a V20 and the viewfinder / camera lags when trying to shoot in low light. A little movement will cause the photos to blur. Also, LG updates supports are ridiculously slow. Even much worse than Samsung update cycles. No way I will get LG phones ever again.

                            obviously no gsmarena.

Can five cameras seduce you to buy the LG V40 ThinQ? Love it or Hate it? I choose the third option 'No'

The camera setup is sweet, I don't care for telephoto but wide angle is the only thing I miss since leaving LG.
However, as someone who used to own a G6, I expect this phone to be plagued by the same issues: poor battery life, lack of updates combined with lack of bootloader unlock, and the size is even bigger while G6 was already unwieldy and uncomfortable to use.

It is also not sold in Europe and other regions like Canada. It is that I skip this one, but they should sell the V series worldwide..., so stop the G serie if needed, but not the V serie :(

I will talk only about the camera here. I think hardwarewise the S10 beats these camera's. Wider angle lense and better telephoto. Also don't know if the HDR is improved, but on the LG V30 it was way behind the HDR+ from the Google Pixel 2.

I'm game for 7 cameras with 5 on the back with different apertures. But the consistency across them all needs to be there. The V40 doesn't have photo quality consistency.
