AnonD-29849, 10 Nov 2011And the epic cycle of "hey I manage to install OVI Map... moreI love the fact that my Omnia HD has Ovi Maps 3.04, its much better than the standard Samsung LBS navigation which is Route66 for Symbian S60v5.
As for Ovi Store, since most of the apps are not created by Nokia and are 3rd party developers this is not an issue as you can also get these apps from the developers websites.
Its not Omnia HD owners that Samsung stopped all work on their version of Symbian, you buy a mobile you expect it to be supported by the handset maker, Samsung screwed all their Symbian handset owners so in order to ensure that the handset is still up to date we are left with the custom firmware developments, and that means we have the option to install "Nokia S60v5 / S^3 Only Apps" then so be it.
Personally I love the fact that my Omnia HD is using the HX V11 custom firmware which allows me to overclock the CPU from 600MHz to 950MHz without killing the battery performance, that I have full kinetic scrolling, single tap to enter sub menus (but sadly double tape to start app is still there due to S60v5 code being made for resistive screen and not capacitive screen) and in general a more stable experience overall than what Samsung ever gave their Symbian handset owners.
As for what is going on now with Nokia WP7 apps being hacked to work on other WP7 devices, meh so be it, its gonna happen regardless and Nokia would be well aware of it anyway.

The same way people are able to update to Symbian Belle for N8 although its not released although they're not hackers. Stupid thinking yourself.

Not every ... moreIf someone let the instructions for make it OR make some pure hacked firmwares, everyone can do it, same as manipulated Symbian Patches, fixes and more....so easy to do with JAF or similar software and you are ready...or visit XDA among others for download Nice Hacked ROMS/Firmwares for your WP7 :D
In fact, there is some firmwares around including Nokia Maps for the Samsung Focus :D

this is not relevant to nokia, those nokia exclusive wp apps will be on non-nokia phones of few experienced users, but businessman, kids and moms will not bother with them, so this is actually just a nice ad for nokia, nothing else.

I'd say hackers are really familiar with Windows platform that's why hacking on Windows mobile phone are really prone to this.

The fact is Nokia Music and Drive are awesome services. I'm pretty sure the effects from these hacks will actually end in positive for Nokia. These apps are just the first things Nokia could create in half a year and more services and better customization will come with Apollo.
For now, the most important thing is to actually get WP7 of the ground and because of this, every sold WP7 phone is a win for Nokia. Remember, they are betting everything on the ecosystem.
Microsoft is also improving the app security soon. Drive and Nokia Music are good enough apps to get people hooked. Think what happens when people will get used to the apps and they suddenly can't access them anymore or only very old versions are available.

this proves it all Samsung and HTC developers are scared of Nokia 800 and now they stealing its things so they try to keep it down but for how long they will keep on stealing. they know Nokia can reclaim its markets so now they move on dirty business rather competition
