Gandalfdenvite, 11 Oct 2018Google Pixel Slate is ok hardware but useless software/OS! ... moreTHe argument is that Pixel Slate can run Linux applications NATIVELY. Apple is nowhere near. THe operating system sucks

Pretty much pointless to get knowing ipad Pro destroys this one in processing power, even if you take i7 for 1599 dollars will be waste of money, considering ipad Pro cost 799 for almost same performance

Google Pixel Slate is ok hardware but useless software/OS! If you want to use Android apps from Google Play it is far better to buy a pure Android tablet, that still makes it possible to use Google Chrome and all Chrome apps, or better versions on Android!
Google Pixel Slate is only good if Linux can be installed to replace Chrome OS!
A good review of Google Pixelbook is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zQZl7dimOc and explains why Chrome OS just sucks!

I'd still get a surface go over the cheapest pixel slate. But this is a good start.
I guess the pwn lag ia because of the high pixel density of the screen but updates could make the pen a bit smoother.

No SDcard support or 3.5mm jack? A shame was interested in the low power high res screen but this thing is a toy not a tool.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2018£539 for celeron processor and 4gb ram on essentially... moreCompared with the iPad Pro, this offers more functionality. It's also cheaper than a Surface Pro. These two are it's competition, not the 360 hinge laptops which work terribly as a tablet.
And Chrome OS doesn't need as much power to run as windows does, that's why that option exists.

Gandalfdenvite, 10 Oct 2018Chrome "OS"/browser is ridiculous, and being more expensive... moreBecause not everyone likes windows. I don't get what's so hard to understand about that

Have you used ms office on an android device personally. It is very limited version. This supports Google docs by default and by wine you can actually use full fledged office instead of a blown up mobile app of tab s4

It's processor is so old and comparable to nonpro ipad that costs half. It's camera also not comparable with ipad pro. And when compared to this, this can run desktop class chrome, Linux apps like gimp for photoediting, video editing apps, programming apps of Linux are supported, and this will get updates for longer lifespan than tab s4. Yes it is not for media consumption people like you, but it is for techies.

£539 for celeron processor and 4gb ram on essentially what is a chromebook? Ummm sure.

I mean it's not like we have a decent laptops at that price that runs on i5 or i7 processor...with more RAM. And on fully functional Windows 10

and its certainly not like we have a laptop/tablet hybrid such as HP's x360 running on i5 with 8GB of RAM and 256 gb of SSD for a fraction more at £629 in Curry's

Or Ryzen 5 with Vega GPU running Lenovo Yoga hybrid at about similar price..

hell, if you look at i3 ends (which still beats celeron) surely you won't even find anyting that matches the base version of Pixel Slate..such as Lenovo Yoga (i3, 4GB RAM, 256gb SSD)..

                        /s

Seriously, what is Google thinking? Not even fully fledged OS that is limited in function. Costs tons more than full fledged laptop/tablet hybrids? I mean even Apple's iPad (2018) is cheaper than this (and as much as it hurts for me to say, it is Apple's one of best Cost to Value product)

Galaxy Tab 4 it's clearly a better and cheaper option. But these manufacturers are going crazy with >£1500 for a gadget that will be history in less than 6 months time.

Hmm, for that price and that laggy stylus, I would rather go for the excellent Tab S4, it's equally sharp, wide-screen AMOLED with 290 ppi, AKG-tuned Dolby Atmos Quad speaker, 3.5 mm headphone jack, superb interface, better cameras, 256 GB internal storage + microSD card slot, 6 GB RAM, wonderful S-Pen and great (optinal) keyboard + mouse support. Also, it has a much better, full-fledged Microsoft Office support.

Google was wrong to give up on Android tablets. Just add it to the extremely long list of wrong decisions by Google.

No 3.5 mm jack? So i cant even run an emulator using my Logitech Rumblepad(OTG) and use my bose headphones simultaneously.

Crapfest. The prices are ludicrous for a gimped machine.

Chrome "OS"/browser is ridiculous, and being more expensive than far better Windows laptops is extremely bad business! Google expect buyers to waste money on expensive pointless hardware for Chrome webbrowser/"OS", when they could buy a far better Windows laptop and just install the free Chtome browser... on it!
Why does Chrome "OS" exist, and why the need for a core i7 and 16 GB RAM for this Chrome webbrowser/"OS"?
