Selling many many phones each day and froma years of experience i can say Samsung cares only about money.
Even for brands like Xiaomi which sells a lot more i have much less complains that for Samsung or Apple brand.
Your quality Note 4 is just one of billions in exceptions.

    And after 5 years even a budget phones will have no jack.
    Its a last analog thing in a cell phone thus its needs it must been removed.
    Jack is like 170 years old its an ancient technology which have no place in future.

By your logic, the Pocophone F1 also has a SD845 & costs only $300... but in reality, it's just a overrated mid-range phone that cannot be compared to these flagships.
                Poco is a flagship phone with a flagship specs.
                Copared to S9 you mentoided it have everything even constant updates which xiaomi gives and is known for where Samsung will add 1-2 OS updates and over and 4 times per year security patches.
                Maybe Poco dont have jack and SD card but plastic is more durable than glass phone like SD curved display is expensive to repair. and Samsung Amoled is well known for a burning maps.
                In this case Poco preforms a lot better.
                Also the battery is bigger.
                Still we cant compare Poco and S9. Brand new Poco was 350 euros and after a year it will cost about 250-300. Brand new S9 was 900 or 1000 for plus version.
                After half year it have half price proving that Samsung is bunch of greedy bourglars robbing its customers where Xiaomi offers best value for its price honoring its custoemrs.

                  Just to tell you my first razer mice lasted 12 years and it could last even more of my GF did break it by throwing it onto the wall when she came angry from work it was few years ago.
                  Now i have Naga Hex league of legends edition and it working like a brand new and it have few years.

                              The only reason for me to buy this phone is Project Linda. Still I am thinking is it enough reason to switch from S8+ I was hoping that they will change the design and for me it is the biggest disappointment. Of course I also wait to see battery life and camera samples which is very important for me too.
