Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is the world's first quad camera smartphone

11 October 2018
The four cams are standard, ultra-wide, tele and depth sensor. Basically, the A7 with an extra cam, along with a larger screen and battery.

Thank you Samsung for stay out of this notch trend

AnonD-632062, 11 Oct 2018Not bad. Not bad at all. Super AMOLED screen. Large 3800... moreYeah, because a 600 EUR (750 USD) mid ranger is so reasonable, right? 750 USD for a snapdragon 660? No thank you. I don't care that it has 4 cameras, I wouldn't even care if it had 24 cameras, a 750 USD price is not justifiable for a mid ranger that runs a Snapdragon 660. You can get a XZ2 for cheaper than this, and it probably has a better one camera than four Samsung's. Adding extra cameras does not make it better. And for a 4 camera phone, I'd at least expect it to shoot 1080 at 60fps, Sony's mid rangers do it. DO NOT BUY this phone, overpriced mid ranger, you're better off with a Motorola mid ranger which cost 250 EUR or 300 USD. DO NOT BUY. You'll thank me if you listen to me.

    OVERPRICED.

Seriously, $750 for a mid ranger, I know I'm bringing this up a lot, but that is unacceptable. I'd expect flagships to cost that much. Even has a snapdragon 660... smh

    As I said, OVERPRICED

      Response to Huaweis triple camera

Sushant Sic, 11 Oct 2018I think Samsung should have experimented these things in th... moreActually by the time the flagship is made, the features have been tested and greatly refined for phones that cost a lot more. The S10 series will be superb, if the development is any indication of things to come. I hope they dictate what specification of sensors Sony should make for them. They had Dual pixel before anyone else, for a long time. It's only recently that it has percolate to other smartphone companies (Apple, LG etc). I hope they can push maybe something with a 14-bit RAW capable sensor and/ or full res 120fps and/or dual ISO like on some ILCs (maybe ISO 400 and ISO 3200). Something that pushes the sensor above everything else out there. Also atleast 2 if not 4 ISPs.

Let's see if there cameras perform well. That's all what matters.

Btw: If there would be a similar dual selfie camera setup as Pixel 3, it might be able to take advantage of google's camera app...?

LG and Huawei: We have three cameras on the back, deal with it !

              Samsung: Hold my beer !

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Super AMOLED screen. Large 3800 mAh battery. Powerful SnapDragon 660.

128 GB of Internal storage with 6 or 8 GB RAM! That's awesome for a mid-ranger.

3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot. Nice gradient colour options too (Lemonde Blue looks sweet and unique).

Great Camera combination, like that of the LG V40. Looks very promising with large primary resolution and f1.7 aperture. Although the Depth Sensor is probably just there to make up the numbers. And the Telephoto sensor makes it even more redundant. Selfie camera seems good too.

My only gripe is they should have gone for the centrally placed camera alignment, like traditional Samsung design. Also, they should price it right too.

Still, if Samsung is willing to take such a radical approach with a mid-ranger, just imagine how the S10 will turn out! Exciting Times!

Samsung Galaxy, 11 Oct 2018Terrible camera layout! Despite this, at least it keeps the microsd slot and 3.5mm jack at this price range unlike OnePlus 6T. Fortunately, no FUGLY NOTCH as well.

                      Terrible camera layout!

"Lemonade Blue" I have never seen a lemonade that is blue...

What's the point of having the depth sensor when telephoto and wide angle can do the depth mapping as well?
After all this is no different from a triple camera smartphone in terms of what it can do.

I think Samsung should have experimented these things in the Flagship Category rather than pushing it in the Midranged... But I really appreciate Samsung is finally trying to push its Midranged Market... Hopefully they price it well...

Whatever it may be... These devices will rule the Offline Market for sure...

The depth "camera" is more a laser like sensor than a camera but ofcourse, that dosen't matter to the marketing departments or GSMArena for that matter which is adding to the deceptive marketing.
Can't wait for all the fake "Influencers" with bought bot followers & likes to plug this as the best cameraphone under the sun.
