Weekly poll: is the Razer Phone 2 the best gaming phone?

14 October 2018
With upgraded specs and pure Android (Nova Launcher Prime comes pre-installed), we may even ask if its the best flagship, period.

Peoplet need to understand there is no best gaming phone. It's just all gimmicks. Does it offer amoled? No, does it offer proprietary chipset to have advantage in gaming? No, do you really need 120hz refresh rate? No, none of the software can utilise it. Does it come with hardware controls? No, they want to milk you for extra physical controls, does it have exclusive? No, same all rubbish mobile games which can be run on any phone. If you ask me, Pocophome f1 will perform same on any game as this "gaming" phone. Don't be stupid, and waste money for things it can't do better than any phone with SD 845

So... moreI am a true gamer, For me it's important that while I game (FPS for example) Sound is as realistic as If I am in the game itself (And I've been in military service, not as a frontal warrior but I know how it feels)
I do tend to rely more on RPGs and Strategy. Although I am absulutely horrible as RTS. XD
Ofcourse. I'm toned down now as I am a mother. And it takes quite a toll of my gaming life.

Not into gaming phones. Costing a bomb and so hard to play on a phone. Rather use the money for Nintendo Switch.

Sharp made 120Hz displays with MUCH older SoCs. 7nm is irrelevant to refresh rate, it's relevant to consumption efficiency and heating.

it's great on spec, but two aspects which will be a deal breaker, official support for razer controller announced, but for their US$150 model specifically for the razer phone, that's twice as much as switch controller pro and almost 3 times cost of a ps4 controller, also, only supports bluetooth 5, no ldac or aptx hd, not exactly the highest bitrate around.

i would just like to say to those who are saying the 120hz refresh rate is a gimmick that it really is not. you should see it for yourself before you say otherwise. the refresh rate is adaptive indeed, but it is there when an app needs it, so it provides for really smooth movement on the screen that even just web browsing is an enjoyable experience. now, i switch back and forth between my note 8 and razer phone 1, and i can tell the difference to the point that it is now a pain to look at a 60hz screen.

simply, the answer is either "hate it" or "love it"; i don't totally get the people who keep bringing up other gaming phones or even other brands when it is simple as voting for "hate it".

As cool as the Razer Phone 2, and even moreso the ASUS RoG Phone.... they struggle to compete with a SONY Vita (modded) when it actually comes to GAMERS.

And let's not forget the elephant in the room, which is the GPD Win2, currently the best mobile console. It's a better GAMER experience to get one of those and a cheap phone (eg Redmi Note 5). Remember it's faster, can do Android Games, can do Windows Games, more optimised Emulators, and the Gamepad experience is also better.

Without Jack, and a loud speakers.. means this phone is meant to be played at home.

And when you are at home.. you should have access to consoles and pc.. which defeats its purpose.

If you equip with bt earphones, you may have lagged gaming experience.

They should provide jacks, larger storage options.

A portable gaming device without a built-in gamepad is not a proper gaming device in my opinion. Also what's the point having higher than 60hz when it has a 10nm processor? Everything is going 7nm now, I would have waited for the next gen.

Sounds are very important in games and they are not just there that it wont be boring and for effects. In shooter games you understand where your enemy is shooting you or hear him walk or run. And then headphones with microphone to communicate strategy with your group and so on.

I play games too but i am not a gamer.
