Kriegsherr, 14 Oct 2018If your phone is as old as padphone E then yeah true, the a... moreI've upgraded it a few timed then fell back to it:
It's rooted, has all Google services disabled, most apps can't access the internet (or data on the device) without my permission, still works smoothly for my usage pattern and the battery lasts me a day.

From what I gather, this is harder to do in 2018, especially the disabling Google part. And researching a device which could do all of this takes a lot of time which I don't have atm.

Blockchainer, 13 Oct 2018Can't wait for an overpriced phone which can get me $1-10 p... moreThis will likely be a secure crypto wallet and other functionality. A portable, battery-powered 'mining phone' would be absolutely idiotic.

Anyone expecting a flagship will probably be disappointed in my opinion.

HTC Exodus is most probably about introducing blockchain technology on mobile phones. I am not expecting a blockbuster flagship-spec phone but a security-first, security-enhanced phone here.

Lets see what will be unveiled in about 1 week's time...

app support just dies after a while.
I have a Padfone E which is still on 4.3. It's still fast enough as a workhorse, but apps are starting to drop jellybean support which means I'll lose some features as time goes by.

BigDisplay, 13 Oct 2018Never had a HTC in my life and it dont seems like i ever wi... moreIt would be unreasonable now, but back in 2009 and a few years before and after that HTC made some of the best phones both in design and performance.

Exodus means a mass departure of people. It kinda sounds Biblical... and blockchain means like chain of blocks or getting blocked by lots of people one after another.
In any case I don't like the meaning of any word.
And worst case scenario would be exodus of money from my wallet on this overpriced thing, and then getting blocked repeatedly when I want to return my overpriced device because there's something wrong with it...

But several friends of mine told me the opposite. If you are telling me that an android OS update after two years makes your phone faster, its hard to believe. Anyway i updated my phone to os 12 amd 12 makes it better than os 11 so i don't use updated os is wrong.

Only HTC I have ever used was the M9, and it was a darn good phone for sure. Not as customizable as the Samsung Galaxy S6 or LG G4 back then but it did the job! Music player I didn't care much for since it didn't have Music EQ. This one looks pretty awesome for sure though.

Do you r... moreU probably didn't use a smartphone with fast software updates before, it is faster if u update to a newer version of ANDROID u know. Sure, the improvements are minor based on the new features, but based on performance it is a different story. When I updated my smartphone from ANDROID NOUGAT to ANDROID OREO, I did see a major improvement not in some changes in the UI, but the performance I got because of updating it; my smartphone feels much more snappier and faster with way lesser throttling when I compare to my experience with the previous version

Geeks and enthusiasts are interested on this new smartphone taxonomy. But for normal folks, HTC doesn't impress anymore.

                                      Price is U$1000

I hope they're a bit more on the ball with keeping this one secure unlike the HTC 10/U11 which have barely seen any security patch updates
