I would have love this phone if it comes with an SoC 845 with huge thermal cooling and turbo GPU like you see on new Huawei phones. But otherwise, beauty wise is very important for me to impress my girlfriend.

gam30to, 18 Oct 2018I have the money but at least give me one thing i can tell ... moreMan this garbage is more pretty than most other flagships.
At least it fits pockets compared to 6,5 inch screens which are created nowdays.
Nobody is interested to carry phablet or tablet in pockets which veights over 200 grams.

      Vertu is 100% handmade.

handmade in England, exclusively for China. what a time to live in. actually, is it still made in England? i thought they closed down their manufactory there.
curious choice of SoC, though. sure, the target audience likely doesn't care, but why not use an SD845 anyway? it's not like it would've made the phone noticably more expensive. thermals or battery life, maybe?

androfox, 18 Oct 2018I like how vertu creates bad looking phones with horrible s... moreMan bad looking still more pretty than most phones nowdays.
Compared to the winners of a most ugly phones of year 2018 which are Note 9, Google pixel 3 XL or XZ3 this phone is super adorable. I know its CPU aint much but i had a Vertu in my hands. A customer brings it for repairs and battery replacement.
All i can say a pure luxury breathing from the phone. And its as much hand made as it can be. From the very first screw into the last its build by same person which name is carved into the phone.
This is something no other brands offers.
Forget Samsung and note 9, forget XZ3 premium or Apple XS max or Oppo lamborgini edition P20 porsche design. All are expensive and made by maschne which can do mistakes.
But this is all made by humans hands.
Once you see how Vertu phones are made you will understand and realise what special is here.

I don't think it's a phone for geek people, I don't understand some comments of people, it's only reserved for people who like jewelries and luxury. It doesn't need performance from such customer, because that will be only a piece of collection for fortunate people.

Only celebrities and royal families would buy this very pricey phone.

Incredibly average phone for it's price.

The 660, is an efficient chipset, than can handle the tasks, people owning a phone like this would use it for.
It is more efficient than the highest end Snapdragon chipsets, so the batterylife will be better.
Sure the 670 chipset would have been better, but niche devices like this, usually takes a while to develop, and thus ends up with a bit dated chips inside.

People that get phones like this are unlikely to spend hours surfing the web. Some might use social services, but that doesn't require a large screen.
Neither will they consume media, or play games.

The looks however are a matter of taste.
I'm not convinced this is attractive enough for their potential consumers. It looks a lot like other Vertu phones. But Vertu isn't that famous as a brand, so keeping the style, so that others will know what it is probably a flawed strategy. I think they will have to diversify a bit, to get the costumers they want.
It isn't understated, it doesn't look superior in terms of craftmanship, it might be, but doesn't look that way, and neither does it have a design that makes a statement.
If it takes bragging about how much one payed for a luxury item to raise any interest for the product, then it isn't truly a luxury item.

I still don't get to this day, why can't Vertu put flagship specs for the price? For that price, a snapdragon 845 is nothing so why not put it.

I don't know why everyone goes on about it needing the latest flagship specs. If those who buy these phones were smart enough to need the latest and greatest internals they would also be smart enough to buy something else. These are just fancy fashion accessories like the small useless handbags that they will be carried in. The rich Chinese seem to be going mad for that kind of stuff at the moment so there is a good chance these may actually sell quite well there.

I have the money but at least give me one thing i can tell myself to buy it?. Looks fail, screen size fail, internals fail, price point fail. At least give me a Hermes Case to hide this ugly phone! I would look more proud with a Nokia N95 in 2018 than this luxury garbage

Give me a Nokia 8810/8850/8890/8910i from the 90's instead. Thank you.

This is kind of weird. If they are already making a phone that's intentionally meant to be ridiculously expensive, why not put high end internals in it?
