OnePlus 6 can't beat Apple in most of the categories, but it is the best value for the price. Actually they have completely different customers. Those who only want to pay 600 US Dollars are not likely to try a 1000+ one.

By value you mean monetar... moreNo one buys iPhone beyond 50% value in the second-hand sale be it few months or later for the simple reason, iPhones even after 50% still more expensive than OP 256GB edition brand new with higher end spec with case, screen guard installed out of the box, premium fast charger!
Whereas OnePlus even after one year loses only 25% of its value. Buying new OnePlus after selling the old one becomes lot more easier and sensible.
