The SD card back up approach is not convenient and useless for many cases.
What if your phone got on fire? Or stolen. The SD card would be inside it this gone.
Backups are meant to be remote
And don't say back up everyday on an SD card and keep it home. Not convince at. All because you'll need something to backup your original SD. To the new SD and there is the switching and pooping the SD card . Some poople have it encrypted which means you can't even back it up unless you have the phone connected to a PC.
This is way much better

Wouldn't it have been easier to have a micro sd card slot to back data up to instead of this eyesore of a hard drive?
Not sure why you guy's like useless innovations instead of using the already implemented cost effective products.

They accept the EULA/ToS, but they don't read it, or simply don't care. But when they read someone is spying they suddenly become so defensive about their data and it's privacy.

A step backward from SD card and a huge step backward from cloud. Now you have a proprietary non-redundant storage that people can take to get more info than what your phone contains.
