They could have reduced the notch, but it would have meant a larger bezel. 2mm from the notch, would add 2mm to the bezel. Surprised they didn't to that route. If the notch was the only issue this device had, I think most would give it a pass. A 3700mA battery and 6GB of RAM, people would get over the notch. Given the mass hatred to notches (not from me), you'd have thought Google would have had the sense to make the rest shine. They should have at least had a notch hide solution baked in, from day 1. It is a shocking omission. One of many shocking decisions that they made. Reminds me of classic LG, HTC thinking. Samsung and Huawei go the opposite route, no compromises. And their results show that the no compromise route is the profitable choice. Sony, LG, HTC, Google ought to realize that, surely?

Second, Pixel has the best front camera, non of them come close to Pixels quality.

The notch is big due to the incompetence of the people that built it. Sony ,Samsung, Xaiomi ,etc all don't have that problem

Though we can put the bezel back on the screen the side readings drop down under it.
If they do an update allowing the widgets to up onto it. Perfect.

Unfortunately, many manufacturers don't let good sense prevail and instead too caught up in blindly following Apple. :(
