If the Note9 can have it, along with a hf jack, s pen, huge battery and better stb, no brand has an excuse to ditch it. And if anyone doesn't need one, they can keep it empty, is it a big deal?
I for one like to keep all my shows and movies offline on my phone because I cannot bear when I cannot watch something I want to because of low bandwidth. Other people have other reasons. What's the reason to take away an option which is not hurting anybody, just why? You don't need it, don't use it. You need it, use it. But don't know why some people just want to defend stupid decisions by brands.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2018It comes with a usb-c to headphone jack converter, stop cry... moreRemoving the audio jack is fine and the absence of expandable memory as well is still acceptable to some people but putting a small battery in this phone on top of those is just segmentation overkill. If it had a bigger battery (say, at least 3500mah), it still wouldn't have cannibalized the Redmi Note 5 AI sales since the latter has both expandable memory and audio jack. They were probably so unreasonably worried for their Redmi Note sales that they crippled this phone way too much. Such a shame.

They should come up with Mi A2s or plus with bigger battery otherwise it's already a flop .

                          - You don't need to carry 100Gb+ of photos with you. You just don't.
                          - No need for FLAC files on a mobile phone, as very few of them can actually translate the improved quality into meaningful difference in output sound using headphones.
                          - If you shoot a lot of holiday videos, you should back these up into the cloud or your laptop.

Fame and success has gone to Xiaomi's head. That's why they think they can get away with Apple-esque decisions like removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the microSD card slot even in a mid-range phone like the Mi A2. They even put a small 3000 mAh battery in it.

Better go for the Mi A2 lite. It has a 3.5 mm jack, a microSD card slot and a much larger 4000 mAh battery.
