The reason? Spammers… This is why we can’t have nice things.

Sure, if you want some freedom you could go to Android AND tweak that OS a little bit here and there to achieve a pretty similar iOS' privacy level.
But for all those people who don't want to dig down and tweak their phone they would choose iOS over a little restrictions for the so-called "it just works".

After all, it goes down to a matter of personal choice. No need to be an evangelist and calling all competitors crappy. Give people options, don't dictate them.

Everyday i get annoyed by mi store app update notifications and i can't even disable it. I'm well past my patience, eagerly waiting for this phone to die out. I'll have a valid reason to switch then.
          Never Xiaomi ever.

You still can receive notification from beacons if you have an app that supports them.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2018I don't knew about it so who cares.Probably all the people who _DO_ know about it. My question is why you bothered to read the article and go out of your way to comment if you really don't care.

With Nearby notifications: Google knows where I am, it sends me the proof.
With no nearby notifications: Google still knows where I am..

I wish Google would give us a "premium" option to buy our privacy, giving us an option to turn off all (or part of) google online services

Good decision. No one likes these Google features that cause unnecessary intrusion of privacy. It's the same reason why people don't want intrusive and privacy concerning "AI" features. People would rather do these things themselves.

                          Missed it, not one bit.

Never use this and never will.

Good riddance, sounds like an annoying feature. I wouldn't like random notifications. I'm not a guy who uses social networking sites or related features. I hate random notifications on my phone, it's the reason i hate MIUI too. Damn those persistent Mi store notifications bugging me to update every single day!!

Definitely appreciate. It annoyed me most of the time.

The only useful feature of the notifications was to remind you to review your location privacy settings to avoid exactly these types of features.
