Anonymous, 16 Nov 2011bettery batter life and delicious hd games and there may be... moreI think by that time if we reach Android 5.0 (this time next year to be precise), there will be talk of the successor to TEGRA 3 and rumors of 3.2 ghz or greater, if not already by Q2 next year for the following year, 2013. I wonder how many manufacturers will utilise the ARM Mail T658 chip with the augmented reality pS3 graphics and head up display gimmicks, maybe in time for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Iphone 6 or 7 circa 2014.

I'm forced to agree with the crowd on this one. I love the fact that tech is almost harshly moving forward (I'm just now starting to get used to dual-core). Truthfully though, I can't see this being very useful for me. There are currently no apps or software to take advantage of this (Apps are scarce even in the desktop world much less mobile). For me personally, I don't think its necessarily useless but I really wouldn't be rushing into this whole quad-core business.
The good thing though about this (If you're a geek) is that, seeing as Linux distributions (like Ubuntu) almost always support Arm architecture, dual booting between Android and Ubuntu can actually be extremely useful now that devices easily have the RAM and computing power to run that OS VERY competently.
Hackers will love this but the average everyday user will probably see no real benefit. No apps, no games, and an OS UI fluidity improvement will be marginal at best. It'll just be bragging rights really.
Maybe late next year to early the following year, i'll consider switching. Dual-core with CPU clock speed improvements possibly, is more than enough for me...

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2011Don't understand this, phones are only just being optimised... morei agree about only getting used to dual cores.
i actually dont think the phones have the software requirements for quad cores just yet, my laptop is running the most upto date games with only dual core, there are no such softare needeing this kind of power, mainly a gimmick and selling point, even if they are powerful

It is really getting out of control and many people don't even realize that. There is not even a single app that requires a dual core phone to use it's potential and already they are announcing quad core. Quad core that still is the top dog in the desktop world after all these years (six cores are available I know that). You may think mobile phone have come so far is such a short time but this is not particularly a good thing. If you want quad core go buy a PC or a Laptop because after you buy your "quad core" tablet/phone next year before you know it you are out of update program because your device is too old for the manufacturer to care about.

Exactly, Adreno 200 is absolutely not on par with a 1ghz processor. Even a low end. Adreno 205 would be good enough though.

Don't understand this, phones are only just being optimised for dual core phones and now quad cores are coming in. Are we going to get a software update every 3 to 6 months optimising each extra core? Pointless, good for PCs and laptops but phones and tablets. Don't see the point =/. Unless someone can explain why? :) But innovation is always good :).

Andero 200 is not enough for HD games, it would be nice if they provide a better chip for 1Ghz processor.

why even bother with quad core???
Apart from a slightly smoother ui, the only benefit i see with a dual core over a single core is faster web browsing and 1080p video recording instead of 720p.
None of the apps make use of a dual core so why bother with quad core?
They should be more focused on increasing battery life, camera quality etc.
