Hamburger, 30 Oct 2018You should check the specs again. Radio bands good enough f... moreThose are older phones of a slightly higher tier than the Mi 8 Lite, any coincidence in price is just that, a coincidence. Xiaomi will gladly give you more bands, if you pay for it (same as you would when those phones were new models).

The bands this phone has are usually more than sufficient for traveling, it's an European phone which will cover all Europe and surrounding regions. If you hop to the Americas, the roaming charges and your carrier agreements you limit you more than the bands this phone has... with the service you'll get with pre-paids, these bands won't be that much of an hindrance. If you really hop that frequently between the Americas and Europe for this to be a problem, then you don't represent the usual mid-range buyer, as such these phones really aren't made for you -- the exception.

No microSD storage expansion. No 3.5mm phone jack. Limited radio bands for traveling.

What's the good reason to buy something like this? Price only?

                Sick of the huge notch

I will place my bet. It won't come to India or it will come last

Kickasser, 29 Oct 2018So, the next stop will be India; But it won't launch befor... moreNope it won't be India. Xiaomi India is in an extremely delicate situation and the two main reasons are the Realme 2 Pro and their very own Poco. Currently Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi A2 were having SAME PRICE during the Amazon sale creating no reason to buy 5 Pro. While Realme 2 Pro is sporting a 660 at 11K the 128GB Mi A2 is just 1K shy of Poco. Meanwhile, Mi MAX 2 with 625 is 1K higher than the 5Pro with SD636 this creates a question that why would Xiaomi even bother to bring MAX 3 to the market.

Poco is the reason why Mix 2S, Mix 3, Mi 8, Mi 8SE are not available here in India. Xiaomi probably won't release a new phone for India until the next-gen hardware and 2019 arrives.

I'd rather opt for regular Mi8 over lite version, if my budget can allow me that in any way...

Thanks to Realme 2 Pro and Honor 8X, I am sure Xiaomi must be contemplating bringing this as the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India and other countries.
