These two bigger phones are made for heavier users, and the smaller S9 is more of average user, so 4GB is sufficient for the targeting customers. However, One Plus 6 also targets heavier users as S9+, which is totally different from S9. S9 is just too small for many people, especially those mainly do tasks on the phones, not on the computer.

        We are talking about OnePlus 6T.
        Almost everybody knows BKK Electonics Corp. is parent company of OnePlus, Oppo,Vivo, and Realme.
        For your information, each of subsidiaries company of BKK has their own founder, CEO, hardware engineer team, marketing team, sales people, logistic team etc. BKK did not give them a blank cheque every month, but set a target. They need making planning, generate revenue and pay all expense by them selves.

There are no real life differences one can see with a 4GB n a 6GB RAM (Unless you're buying a phone to play those super graphics games). Don't get fooled by those gimmicks. 4GB is still enough for mobile usage. Plus add those practical things you get with S9 - a good pair of AKG tuned earphones, better design, IP68 rating, Audio Jack, stereo speakers, better after sales service and exchange price later.

                Samsung S9+: 6199 (64GB, 6699 at launch), 6499 for 128GB
                Huawei Mate20: 3999 (64GB), 4499 (128GB)
                Xiaomi Mix 3: 3299 (6+128GB)
                One Plus 6: currently on sale for 2899 at JD (6+64GB), and 3299 (8+128)

                The price of 6T has not been released yet, but based on the price in other regions, I can assume it is less than 3400 for the base model 6+128GB
                If you take the amount of storage into account, the price 6+128GB model is still aggressive.
                One Plus is priced lower in Mainland China, not because it is "Chinese", but mainly due to that stock android is not popular and actually not easy to use there, where Google service is not officially available. For those markets where people prefer stock experience, One Plus still cost a little less and offers better stock android experience.

S9 is more of a flagship in a small form factor - much smaller screen and less RAM, which makes it tough for heavier use, while One Plus 6T is more comparable to the bigger S9+, but in a budget form, mono speaker, no IP rating, no wireless charging etc., as you have mentioned.

                    I would have loved if they were not spending insanely on marketing (TV, radio, game shows, sponsorships, celebrity endorsements here in India) to keep the pricing relevant.
                    This is a classic human trait - grown ego with fame.

                      To those who feel that Oneplus is king of aggressive pricing, here's the competitive comparison (SD845 base models in India during festive pricing)
                      Samsung S9: 45k
                      Samsung S9+: 51k
                      Samsung Note 8: 44k
                      Poco F1 (don't even get me started here): 21k
                      Asus Zenfone 5Z: 25k
                      LG G7+ Thinq: 38k

                      So don't think they are aggressively priced. For me, at the time of Oneplus 1, Xiaomi Mi3 was launched in India and both were priced aggressively (under 17k). Now Oneplus' latest SD845 is 38k (pro-rata it to 64Gb would have been atleast 35K) and poco is almost half the price.

                      Now awaiting a company evolving just to kill the flagship killer

                        I would have been allover this phone if it weren't the fact that they took out the headphone jack. If other phones can put it in with the same specs and features as One+ 6T, why can't they? They are just trying to copy apple with their notches and headphone jack. Once this brand takes off, I'm sure they are going to sell their phones @ apple prices too.

                          how about special white and red versions will be also by 6T available? like it was by oneplus 6?

                            8 GB RAM 128 GB Storage variant just doesn't justifies its price... Just for 2 GB extra RAM they are charging 4000 INR more...
