MHanz, 09 Nov 2018And here comes the troll, that didn't take long. Nope, not ... moreOh enlighten me higher being, do give me a detailed response about how much it actually costs to make an f1, or is that out of your domain?
Moral : Dont assume you know other peoples preference.

Now what are you going to study marketing so that thats ib your domain too? Dont worry ill wait. Dont just run away.

MHanz, 09 Nov 2018And here comes the troll, that didn't take long. Nope, not ... moreOk so you so still are either blind to the word metal or since you dont have anything to say about my preference for metal, you brand me a troll. And looks like you lack understanding about thermal throttling and frame drops, and how the material used for the body build actually affects it.

So you do acknowledge the polycarbonate used for poco is worse than glass when it comes to thermal conductivity which wa the whole point of the argument.
You can say whatever fancy stuff like those plastics you mentioned exist, but all you can say is poco is making a killing on the f1. If the materials you said were so much cheaper than glass, no doubt they would be cheaper than metal. And you were going on about how high their thermal conductivity was. So like you were saying, if poco could have used those materials instead of polycarbonate, it would have eliminated the need for a heatpipe even. So wouldbt they have made an even better killing?
Ciao? So you dont even know what to say and you are just running away?

I have comprehensively dismissed every point you made and you are unable to provide anything to counter because there is none, you have been comprehensively proven wrong there is no way to argue back. Happens when you don't know something yet try to behave like a know-it-all with an actual engineer ;) Moral: Don't try to pretend you know the domain if you cant do it well enough.

As for Poco F1 choosing the plastic that they have, you are totally clueless as to how much money they are making on that product (hint: they are making a killing) if you displayed a little bit more intelligence I would qualified this post with a more detailed response but you are not worth my time. Ciao

MHanz, 09 Nov 2018You are awfully transparent to be making a straw-man out of... moreNo they sell very well, the general public doesnt care about custom roms, so keep dreaming. What gave me the idea? You mentioning the mate 20 x gave me the idea of you going for it. You wont? No problemo.

I dont get why you keep on blabbing about plastics, are you just blind to the word metal? No im not all about the glass premium feel like the consumers, like you want me to be.
If there are such fancy plastics available for cheap, why has poco used polycarbonate then, which has a value of 0.19?

Why do you think frames drop after about 2 hours? Because it heats up and the software limits temperature rise, the soc downclocks, performance is reduced. This can be reduced by going for metal as a build choice.

Your last para is just you trying to justify a hardware defect.

Mediatek sux, 09 Nov 2018There already exists method to unlock huawei phones, just ... moreYou are awfully transparent to be making a straw-man out of Mate 20 X not having lineage OS support by now, the phone isn't even launched in many parts of the world and here you are slating the choice for being Mate 20 X because there isn't having Lineage ROM support yet? Do you realize how silly that sounds? Or maybe it's because you are a hater of Huawei phones?

Huawei phones that do have official Lineage OS ports :

          Ascend Mate 2 4G
          Honor 4/4X (Unified)
          Honor 4x (China Telecom)
          Honor 5X

The list is limited but things change especially when phones don't sell well. That's when Huawei may have a change of heart and not be a jerk about locking bootloaders down.

lol whatever gave you that idea? Am not a fanboy to be dreaming of any particular phone brand.

This is why I said "IF" they to manage to provide support for Mate 20 X, whenever that might, I will get it, if they don't? No problemo, I don't get it simple as that. Somehow that irks you, strange....but not my concern really I've seen equally weird first world problems before and could not give dime to understand why.

Thanks for the link it just further supports what I already told you 0.8W/mk, their numbers averaging around 0.9W/mk with only Borosilicate added glass which is Pyrex having slightly higher ~1.005W/mk, the difference is down to the type of glass used. Glass comes in all kinds of added additives to control cost of production based on the source and suppliers of that country in question. Yet the difference in variance is very less.

I already mentioned about high grade plastics that have far high thermal conductivity and yet very cheap to make versus tempered glass backs. One such material is Polyacrylonitrile which offers a modest 10W/mk that already obliterates any glass. Mind you this is the "low end". Want more fancy polymer plastics that can do better, like way better? No problem, ceramic fillers rated for are 60-80 W/mK add these to your plastic and the plastic goes well beyond 20W/mk at minimum. If you want even better go for boron nitrides with 300W/mk but it gets even better yet cheaper, enter graphite fibres rated at 500W/mk
          https://www.ptonline.com/articles/plastics-that-conduct-heat

SO... you where saying? What? Speechless already? ;) You ought to be, you and the rest of the consumers out there have been had by this glass back marketing nonsense, people don't like to admit they can be easily influenced with low grade marketing but it does work and proven just here between us. This whole psy-op against plastic being cheap is just FUD business 101 practiced by industry when they want to make excuses to peddle something to milk you over. Just like you can make anything of cheap quality to very high quality based on necessity, only here even high grade plastic for superior thermal conductivity can be had for cheaper than tempered glass.

And yes I asked my sister to buy the Poco F1 and there is no thermal throttling like you've described beyond a normal SoC at 10nm with those clocks dissipating 1.5-2W of heat, which is? mildly warm at best. I now see your claim with high suspicion. If you really have a Poco F1 and have such problems better get that RMAed, that's not normal.

Now if you told me about white backlighting bleed on the Poco F1 screen yes that is a real problem but only at high brightness and a black wallpaper to expose it. You don't just score well in the contrast test against other IPS LCDs with that sort of bleed at more nominal nits levels, the Poco F1 does excel in contrast tests. Besides if you need that sort of maximum brightness anywhere apart from outdoors you have a bigger problem, your eyes are in very bad shape. I am serious. I and most other I know of would find anything more than 25% of that brightness slider on manual on most phones already very bright. If someone needs to set it to high even indoors they have eye health issues to worry about rather than the phone. Such high brightness should only be used outdoors on auto brightness.

MHanz, 09 Nov 2018Except you have poor reading comprehension. Read the post a... moreThere already exists method to unlock huawei phones, just a matter of time before they find one for the mate 20. But have there been offical lineage support for those phones? Check it out. Get up from under that rock. Keep on dreaming for the official lineage on your huawei. I dont know why you think i am hating on the pocophone. I already told you theres little unlock time and good dev support.

About that thermal conductivity thing, yes you are right, i have no knowledge on that matter, other than this, maybe you know better than them, forgive me for my lack of knowledge in this subject matter.
            Here look it up https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-conductivity-d_429.html
Sorry for my poor reading comprehension, english is not my native language, and as you can see, i have been able to learn quite a bit of the language
And im of the opinion that poco should go for metal instead of plastic next, since its best at thermal conductivity.or added bigger heatpipes. Poco gets hot in two hours of pubg, starts dropping frames(smooth and extreme) even with that heatpipe. And they market it as master of speed. Itll just get slow if it cant maintain temps.
Do you own a poco? I do.

Read the post again I said IF Mate 20 X eventually gets Lineage OS support in the future, ergo implied the bootloader should then need to be unlocked.

Most glass have thermal conductivity of 0.8W/m K, The cheapest quality plastic out there used for typical containers is 0.2W/m K. Poco F1's plastic magnitudes better than that. Advanced polymers already widely used have thermal conductivity in the orders or 1 to 10W/m K and above. You are behind the times or just parroting misinformation from another unreliable source. My source? I majored in materials science back in my engineering days. FUD marketing doesn't work when you know the domain ;) but in your defense you are most unlikely to know any of this like the vast majority, which is why the nonsense glass trend is catching on because people don't know or have the time to research this on their own.

It's ok you want to hate on the Poco F1, more of these people on everywhere just like rabid Poco F1 users will go on some tirade on Oneplus posts, but don't let that hate cloud your objectivity. If you don't know atleast try to read up on these from multiple sources before making such baseless silly sweeping statements. Fanboism is toxic no matter what brand

And plastic is bad for heat dissipation, worse than glass. Even with the heatpipe, poco cant keep up with metal phones.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2018The poco F1 is a terrible phone which cut so many corners i... moreFor the price it delivers more than expected like way way more. The low grade plastic is more durable and resistant to falls and if you have a back cover you totally prevent scratches from a fall. The screen white light bleed is the main problem for the phone. The battery life on that thing is monstrous, ~9hrs of SoT with heavy social media on 4G/LTE all day long, very few flagships can match that sort of endurance. The next step is AMOLED, you can bet on it, BOE is ramping up fast on supply to local market, China. With that Poco F2 or whatever they'll call it will kill the market even more. They will retain the plastic build to keep other costs down. Glass is a wasteful nonsense peddled by blockhead marketing for the clueless. Higher grade plastics are just way better than even metal body frames but blockhead marketing will have you think otherwise. The next Poco phone should aim to improve the grade of plastic used.

I'll never get a Xiaomi/Huawei/Oppo/Vivo phone for myself though, Chinese UIs are pure trash, stock Android is how it's mean to be. If the Mate 20 X gets official lineage OS support I'll get that and kill the EMUI trash with fire and use it with Lineage OS.

It has no advantages over high quality plastics but brain dead marketing for the hordes would have you believe you must have glass for wireless charging. Poco F1 is made from not so high quality plastic, the next step is obviously for higher grade plastic with wireless charging all while keeping costs down and if they so they wish to push boundaries go with BOE OLED displays and still price it under Oneplus phones by a considerably amount. If Oneplus doesn't sit up and smell the coffee they will be crushed by not just Xiaomi but the rest of the copycats OEMs out of China. Guess Oneplus has no choice really they just reuse Oppo's design efforts because parent company is BBK calls the shots. Which is why it is even more blatant that Oneplus is so overpriced because they don't even spend that much into industrial designs of their phones as most of the work is already spearheaded by Oppo and Oppo phones are as it is overpriced.

Or as a previous user said before me: looks like Note9's Lavender Purple. We still have to see it in person though. Rendered product images didn't do justice to the real color.

So this looks like the Note 9's Purple

Oneplus's only trump cards over phones like Poco F1 is the AMOLED screen and stock Android experience. With BOE now starting to mass supply OLED screens to chinese companies it wont be long before Oneplus becomes way overpriced. Stock Android experience is great but that alone wont be enough anymore very soon.

They can fix their market erosion by getting Wireless charging while still keeping the glass back but even then they still need to drop prices by at least 90USD to really compete. Oneplus 6T's BOM is not as they would have believe. Their phones are overpriced plain and simple, they have shareholders to answer to despite whatever PR BS they spew for livestream at the launch of their new phones.
