Adobe Flash player doesn't work on Android 4.0, update on the way

21 November, 2011
We should see a final major update for Android's Flash plug-in by the end of the year, but only bug-fixes after that.

[deleted post]Blimey what an overreaction.
All my posts on this site have balance in them if you look around the site. I currently own the orginal Galaxy S and next I am seriously contemplating getting the iphone 4s next.
Anyway back to your reply - HTML5 is not just for documents, it can be used to display media rich content as well. This is why we have a debate in the first place ie Should we be using Flash or HTML5 for delivering videos online? You clearly don't understand what is being talked about. Point your desktop browser at youtube.com/html5 and try typing "flash v html5" in to a search engine, before reporting my posts. I refuse to be ashamed just for exposing your lack of knowledge.
A good day to you sir :-)

AnonD-977, 22 Nov 2011That's because it uses a webkit based browser, webkit devel... moreYour comment misses the point I was making. I never mentioned how the html5 implementation was done, or how it might apparently make one handset better than another (see comment from the 'anonymous' Apple fanboy below). All I said was that there was enough thought put in to things to support both flash and html5 in the Android browser. I really can't see the problem with that.
If it wasn't for such fanatical morons on either side of the debate, it really wouldn't have made any noticeable difference to the average connsumer at all as to whether it was flash or html5 that was universally adopted.

I think thats a good thing yes it sounds silly when i say that.
as someone who had the iphone i didnt miss it when it wasnt there flash on Android is so over hyped its unreal people make such a big deal about it. Now that the final nail has been put in the coffin we can finally move un and be truful and say it was a buggy pile of crap.
Even Adobe had to agree in the end that it really didnt work that well

I find that ideal when I want to watch a flash vid on a website. That way it avoids flash ads which slow browsing down and I've never felt the urge to play flash games on a mobile.

I never understood why Apple hates Flash.
They said it's battery hungry and buggy.
That is all true, but only to an extent.
You have to USE it in order to be buggy and battery hungry.
Couldn't Apple just put Adobe Flash on their itunes and the customer would then decide if they will use that wretched piece of software or not.
Well it's too late anyhow and SJ is smiling somewhere. :D

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2011you neither have one in your drawer nor have you ever owned... moreFlash aint exactly better than HTML5, but right now is just made a lot more sense to support flash than HTML5. HTML5 is nice, but before you offer support for something, that aint really born yet, you should probalby care for the people who live right now, if you get my metaphor. Flash is now, HTML is the future, but right now, Flash makes a lot more sense than HTML5 on a phone and thats a fact. I dont really talk big about my car with wings, if it aint really capable of flying, you know? But it might be, in a few years, but until then, I will probably have a new car, which can fly even better, so whats the point of futuristic tech in a phone, if it is long outdated until the feature becomes a real standart? And until then, wouldnt it make sense to support the standart, which everyone can widely use right now?

Flash is till now still by far more supported than HTML5. Tell me, where is HTML5? Thats right, just in development. So tell me, why do you need HTML5 on... lets say... iphone 3G. It is like buying a car, which runs with hydrogen and there is absolutely no gas station around. Yeah it is the future and just an idiot wouldnt accept that, but your phone needs to support the things which are standart right now and not in 5 years, cuz until then you have a new phone to support the new standart. And Android is the one OS, which actually thought as far, that you need flash now and HTML5 years later. HTML5 on a 2 year old phone makes just absolutely no sense, so what is it for?

phoneaddict, 22 Nov 2011Samsung Galaxy Nexus doesn't support flash? What about HTML... moreyou neither have one in your drawer nor have you ever owned one. Otherwise you'd know that iphone 4 has fully supported HTML5 from day 1.

& I think the comments about apple winning were more along the lines of the fact that Steve Jobs publicly said flash was on its way out & html5 was the future for mobile web browsing. The fandroids in the tech world then publicly denounced him, crying that flash was far better.... Now even Adobe is admitting that flash is too resource hungry for mobile devices & that it lessens the browsing experience..

I'd say that given Steve's comments & given Adobe's current backstep that Steve was right & the Fandroids were wrong.

Where will it leave all the haters who vehemently expressed that flash was the most important thing to them...?

The fact is that the android browser on most handsets (my SGS for example) support html5 as well as flash so their users have in fact always had the best of both worlds :-)

html 5 was not developed by apple it was just introduced and advertised...and so as windows mobile. so if android wants to accept Html5 then they are welcome to implement it. ..no need to argue.
