i live in a country called India, which aims to conquer moon and mars on the strength of own technology.
Its very strange that such country cant make a mobile phone on its own. it imports mobiles, electronic and even arms for army by giving billions of dollors profit to unfriendly countries like china and US

Higher cost of living people. There is no such thing as things will remain cheap forever. Furthermore, Xiaomi is also a profit based company. Of course they will increase the pricing over the years. Want more affordable phones? Go and get the older generation models instead.

umeshk, 12 Nov 2018Its made out of India, assembled in India... Hilarious comment considering India doesn't have the capability to make Snapdragon SoC, few countries do. This goes the same for many other smartphone compnents. Only a few countries possess the technological ability to do that.

Both phones were advertised as “Made for India by Indians,” but since most of the components are imported..

Do indians really love this kind of "fake nationalism" advertisement?

All these companies had imported the spare parts of the products 6 months back when exchange rate was around 60. Now it has touched 74 & may rise further. Obviously all OEM's would pass increased cost to consumer by hiking the price by 10K for next couple of months.
