Spotify lands on Apple Watch, offers just remote control functionality for now

13 November 2018
A proper offline experience is being developed, but this app is still useful - it lets you control Spotify Connect smart speakers from your watch.

Well, Wear OS had that for years. Tizen on Samsung watches has a full-fledged app, with offline features. Still funny to see that in 2018 only when others are late to the party, your materials include statements like "after being on iOS since last summer, the app is now being developed for Android", but not the other way around..

Gandalfdenvite, 14 Nov 2018A "watch" as a remote control for your phone in your pocket... moreBut why have spotify when theres Apple music? Chosing spotify is like going to a bar full of single girls and waking up with a cow in the morning.

Spotify dont want to tell us the truth hree, if there was a demand for spotify on apple watch there would already be an app, truth is they have no leverage to break the dominance of apple music and thats why they didnt make an app.

Finally Spotify support, Completely Love this idea would help for people doing sports and being active, I reckon it would work the same as changing music through Bluetooth, completely disregarding a previous comment by Gandalfdenvite about the 'slowness' of changing a song, Looking forward to seeing the full control through the watch to see if Siri is going to be able to control the app in the future.

A "watch" as a remote control for your phone in your pocket, that is ultimate laziness, but probably not as fast... as just picking up your phone!
