AnonD-16816, 24 Nov 2011can i ask... what is the essence of releasing the source co... moreAs far as I know, when a device manufacturer releases source code, it's the source code of the android build that the device is running. Android has to be adjusted to run on different handsets because of the hardware differences (chipset, camera, extra features). Now that the code is released, the authors can start adjusting their ROM to work on this device.

AnonD-16816, 24 Nov 2011can i ask... what is the essence of releasing the source co... moreSource pcode is the complete and analized software that leads the phone's hardware, phones have dozens of different parts in and between them.Thats why is so important to developers that want to make a device working better, and that code helps them for best and most stable results, even better and from corp's work that leave lately main work on hobbyist developers,I don't call them any more volunteers cause it sounds more like a fan-slave world, they do important work lately that croporations should and for free. :-(

These dual core phones for are fine top gadgets now for their screens but I'd not let even my buggy 2x till a real performance boost gets out...

Jack85, 24 Nov 2011Motorola is going down the drain...bye byeno way. motorola is among the few ones that got the recipe: let them users mod it and they will buy the device mainly for the hardware platform rather than the whole hardware + software package. stick them, lock them, bye bye market...
