We’ve been seeing some extra hardware codenames and this could be the culprit!

Expecting more features and development from Google pixel 3 lite phone

So the more money you pay the fewer features you get.

      What's up with that, Google?

still no nexus line...been best, would be best...but google wanted the fame...

What annoys me are the massive sizes phones are atm. I would rather a 720p, 5 inch phone with 16\9 aspect ratio with normal size bezels. 135 to 138mm tall would do the trick.
Plus a nice 9mm thickness with a huge battery inside and a larger camera sensor would make it a great phone.
But trends are more important than practical phones i guess.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2018Sad facts: Nowadays, 560$ is already considered cheap by so... moreThe actual Sony camera sensor is used on a lot of other phones so cost shouldn't be a massive issue to bring this to a midrange model - other manufacturers do it, however Google has the software to elevate it higher which they will probably price for.

Sony xperia xz1 compact - perfect size and specs.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2018Sad facts: Nowadays, 560$ is already considered cheap by so... moreFor 600 I just bought Pixel 2XL. I would see this phone as High End.

Where the High Ends shows the most is the smoothness and responsiveness of the UI, the visual consistency of the UI, haptic feedback, front stereo-ish speakers, and camera software.

Last years chipset? Yes. But the difference in negligible, compared to 845.
Bad display? No, it's great. I have compared it to Samsung extensively, it has more black crush, more blue shift, but the display itself, is in my opinion and usage - better. And it doesn't have rainbow effect from grease and water, which is very common on all Samsung displays, which is probably blue light filter layer of sorts, to eliminate blue shift.

I used to chase the specs, but lately the mid-priced high end specs phone manufacturers put some really cheap components alongside the rest, and worst of all, they don't complete the software, it's always under-construction for bugs. Yes, Google does this too, but they quickly patch things out, and they do it well, which I can't say for many other manufacturers, except for maybe Apple, but it's very controversial.

Why doesn't Google go after the Motorola market and launch a 200 USD phone? The google camera is more of a software feature. Just monopolize that segment!

SagarSK, 17 Nov 2018Really?? A 4.5'??I doubt a 4.5 screen will ever happen. If it does, I will be very happy to use one. From personal experience, I can tell you a 4.5 inch 16:9 720p screen without navigation buttons is a suitably large and immersive experience within a compact footprint. I do wonder if that thick, ugly navigation bar that easily eats up two to three lines of text is what lead to dinosaur phone sizes.

Sad facts: Nowadays, 560$ is already considered cheap by some people. But can't blame them, since the flagship-phone prices went way over 1000$.

For 600$ish I actually expect more than average stuff. So it better be a superb midranger.

However... Camera is still their main selling point. If they are going to downgrade them, there is simply no point to get their midrangers. If it's not the camera, what is then? There are Android One-Phones that are way cheaper.

It's crazy to think this is a midrange but it still has the same amount of RAM as its more expensive siblings. Google should've put more RAM on the Pixel 3/3 XL.

                                  Headphone jack, ftw!

If they are going to release a midrange with a snapdragon 710 and a resonable price I will buy it.

Having only 32 GB internal storage is quite a downer. I hope there is a 128 GB option.

That's the only thing preventing me from getting this. I like the size, having same camera as the Pixel 3, plastic back (hate glass), headphone jack, and cheaper. I really do hope they release it here in the States. If it's only for certain countries outside the US, that would be quite a downer. I hate this current era full of expensive, gigantic phones with notches and no headphone jack.

I miss 2013-2016. By 2017-2018, it became all glass backs, majority lost headphone jack, notches, and $1000 phones that slow down after the battery wears out. Worst era of smartphones.

                                      https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/11/16/pictures-pixel-3-lite-emerge-headphone-jack-budget-pixel-dreams/

Honestly, this could be my next phone.

I don't need all the bells and whistles of a $800+ Pixel 3. I just want that same camera and Pie.

This phone looks like a Pixel 2c. Plastic back. Ugly. Who cares? It's cheaper and has a headphone jack!

I just hope that midrange SoC isn't so much of a downgrade from the 845.

Kudos, Google. Attack the midrange segment. People will still find ways to hate on it. If it's too expensive, they hate. If it's cheaper, it's UGLY. Nobody is ever happy.
