OnePlus' first 5G phone could cost $100 more than the OnePlus 6T

19 November 2018
This won't be the OnePlus 7, which will presumably get a smaller bump in price.

Anonymous, 20 Nov 2018Well, their sales success disagress with your concerns. Mea... moreNope.
Just because the consumers disagree with me doesn't make me wrong. And just because there's more sales does not mean the consumers disagree with me. You haven't even taken into consideration that OnePlus had a supply/availability problem, and they have ramped up production with each model.

Besides it's all listed there, you can verify yourself, because facts don't care about your feelings, and the fact is they've reduced in features, practicality, and value as their prices have increased steadily.

Does this make it a bad product or a bad company? Not at all. They are a FOR PROFIT company so it's "good business" for them to maximize their profit margins. All it means is that they are no longer consumer friendly or as friendly as before.

It's prices will gradually keep increasing every year. The first OnePlus/Pocophone were made to shake up the market, and get attention of low-budget users. Once these companies gain a fanbase, they start relaxing their muscles.

It might suck for you as a customer, but they need to do it for the profits to come out and for them to make progress on their business.

Don't worry too much though. There will always be new challengers looking to shake up the market.

SpongebobSquarePants, 19 Nov 2018OnePlus Became as expensive as the other brands no reason t... moreActually no. The other brands have gone way up in the sky. A flagship from Samsung/Sony/Huawei/etc costs $800 or more. OnePlus flagships currently cost $500 or more. You save a couple hundred dollars on their phones while not missing out on much, and you also get a near stock ROM with more RAM with their phones which do make a difference in user experience.

OnePlus is a established company at this point, and just like other such companies, they need to continually expand their business. That's exactly what they're doing. They're gradually increasing the prices of their products just like other established companies.

In this rhythm in a couple of years Oneplus phones will be the same price as Iphones and Oneplus users will be the new Isheep.

                  Prices going up yet again.

I think just like Mi, Oneplus might skip the number "7", keeping the Chinese tradition in mind.

So, we might directly get Oneplus 8... which might be 5G, I'm not sure though, this is just a guess.

Here's how good/much value the devices offered during a brief history of OPO:

                                1) $349, 2014/04, OnePlus 1, QSD 801, 3GB/64GB, LCD, Plastic
                                2) $399, 2016/06, OnePlus 3, QSD 820, 6GB/64GB, OLED, Aluminium
                                3) $479, 2016/11, OnePlus 3t, QSD 821, 6GB/128GB, OLED, Aluminium
                                4) $539, 2017/05, OnePlus 5, QSD 835, 8GB/128GB, OLED, Premium Aluminium
                                6) $559, 2017/12, OnePlus 5t, QSD 835, 8GB/128GB, OLED, Premium Aluminium
                                7) $629, 2018/05, OnePlus 6, QSD 845, 8GB/256GB, OLED, Glass
                                8) $639, 2018/11, OnePlus 6t, QSD 845, 8GB/256GB, OLED, Glass, No Headphone Jack

                                ...see a trend?
OnePlus has been halting the improvements over the years while simultaneously increasing the prices. So each iteration was worse than the one it replaced, from a value perspective.

                                *5) $389, 2015/08, OnePlus 2, QSD 810, 4GB/64GB, LCD, Plastic
The only outlier is the OnePlus 2 which should be in position #2 but its demoted downwards since it too was plagued with the infamous QSD 810 chipset and the Cyanogen Inc debacle. I'm not even going to mention the OnePlus X released as an experiment.
